Possobilities

Possobilities Possobilities has a vision where everyone is treated fairly. The Disability Community was established in 1984 by disabled people in North Glasgow.

Over the last 30 years it has grown and developed into one of the most respected voluntary organisations in the city. We are funded by Glasgow City Council to provide our unique centre in Possilpark. We have a Community Café and a busy timetable of social clubs and classes, there is something for everyone at The Disability Community. We have day and evening social clubs, IT classes, knitting clubs, Art class, Jewellery Making class and we are always looking to start new groups. We also have a fantastic youth program. Disabled young people often face barriers to attend mainstream youth clubs - physical, transport, emotional and financial. Cook 'n' Care -

For almost 10 years Cook ‘n’ Care has been providing a first-class meals delivery and care service for vulnerable and disabled people in their own homes. We serve the whole of North Glasgow and pride ourselves on the quality of our meals and the efficiency and friendliness of our volunteers and staff. Our homemade meals are delivered hot and ready to eat
Menus are varied and are always healthy and nutritious
Our local volunteers are very flexible – we can deliver on one or two days only, or every day, as required

Our service is open to anyone who needs it – while some of our customers have a disability, others use Cook 'n' Care simply because they are getting older or due to temporary illness. We are always happy to discuss your requirements and can even provide a free sample meal so you can see and taste the quality of what we offer.

Artist Rebecca Livesey-Wright
Artist in Residency with Communities - National Theatre of Scotland with Possobilities

"Sow, Grow, Reap has been a project of gentle exploration and experimentation into how food, care, time and disability intersect. Over the past 6 months I've worked with the community members, staff and volunteers at Possobilities to create an immersive soundscape to be played inside an elaborate horseshoe-shape installation which features pea plants, beaded quotes and crochet panels. The soundscape is composed of folk songs related to land and food, synth sounds generated from 'playing' foods, plants and the artwork we've made, and snippets of conversations taking place across the project. Drawing on theory and visuals relating to rhizomatic and mycorrhizal structures, the installation is informed by questions of reciprocal care, constructs of time (linear, cyclical, seasonal) and carving space to make the mundane beautiful as both an anticapitalist and inherently care-ful practice."

Massive thank you to Isla, Maysam and Gaia who choose to represent Possobilities as part off their schools YPI project.

Thanks to these 3 determined girls we were awarded £3000 for our charity!

Part of the YPI project is to choose a charity and explain to a panel of judges why this charity deserves to win.

The girls visited Possobilities and met our team and our service users and created a heart warming video that they produced as part off their fantastic presentation. They really show cased what we do here at our centre so thank you for sharing our story with others.

It was a pleasure to get to meet the girls and we hope this is the beginning off a great partnership between Possobilities and their high school 😊

Thank you girls!!!!

It’s volunteer week ⭐️

To all our amazing volunteers- THANK YOU ❤️

With the care, compassion and kindness of our volunteers we are able to provide the much needed support and services to people in our community. As a charity we rely heavy on volunteers to ensure that the most vulnerable people in our area are having their needs met.

We couldn’t do what we do without our volunteers.

This video shows the moment our volunteers were recognised for their hard work and were announced Community Championship WINNERS 2024

Our Story

The Disability Community was established in 1984 by disabled people in North Glasgow. Over the last 30 years it has grown and developed into one of the most respected voluntary organisations in the city. Members range in age from 5 to 75+ and all disabilities are represented. We are funded by Glasgow City Council to provide our unique centre in Possilpark. We have a Community Cafe and a busy timetable of social clubs and classes, there is something for everyone at The Disability Community. We have day and evening social clubs, IT classes, knitting clubs, Art class, Jewellery Making class and we are always looking to start new groups. We also have a fantastic youth program. Disabled young people often face barriers to attend mainstream youth clubs - physical, transport, emotional and financial. Our Tuesday Teens club is generously funded by Big Lottery and sees local teenagers learn new skills and have an opportunity to socialise in a safe environment. Our Out and About program is funded through BBC Children in Need and helps us to enable young people with disabilities to attend social clubs at our centre and other local community centres. BBC Children in Need and Glasgow City Council both fund our Carelink After-school club for young people with complex needs. Carelink is a rare opportunity for these young people to socialise and play in a safe environment and we love seeing the smiles and progress all of our young people make. Cook 'n' Care - For almost 10 years Cook ‘n’ Care has been providing a first-class meals delivery and care service for vulnerable and disabled people in their own homes. We serve the whole of North Glasgow and pride ourselves on the quality of our meals and the efficiency and friendliness of our volunteers and staff. We are always happy to discuss your requirements and can even provide a free sample meal so you can see and taste the quality of what we offer.
