The Sally Challenge

The Sally Challenge A wee duathlon as wee challenge for a great cause. It's just a cycle and a run! Approx 13 miles. Please park in Milngavie and walk up as spaces are limited.

"Nae bother!!" ;-)

Leg 1 (Bike) Rowardennan Pier as a starting point, very scenic! Over the years we have seen many different contraptions....however, the route is all on the road...so you decide what bike suits your ability best. Helmets are mandatory and cyclists will depart individually from 11am:

The Finishers Village is Milngavie Iron Bridge. Please ensure all your family and friends are there to cheer you across the finish line. Entry - £35 plus £100 min sponsorship for The Accord Hospice. The Event will be on Virgin Giving so you can do all your fundraising online. Places are limited to 150 so be quick :-)

If you want to get involved and are unable to take part in the challenge please feel free to offer your time as we will need volunteeers to help with water stations and at the start and finish lines. Meet time in Rowardennan is 10am for all cyclists. The reason for me doing this is;

On 27th of December 2011 my Mum, Sally ost her brave fight with cancer. Sally was diagnosed with bowel cancer earlier that year, after her first successful surgery a second cancer was discovered in the bowel, which only 3% of people get. While Sally was facing a second major operation to take the cancer out of her bowel, the cancer had spread to her liver. She fought every minute until she passed away. At the first Sally Challenge, Sally started every challenger off and welcomed them all individually at the finish line with a huge smile and a medal. This year we are raising money for The Accord Hospice who were an amazing source of strength before Sally passed away. Sally lived life to the full and was an inspiration to me and many others, one thing that she lived her life by was, put other people first. Take on this challenge and put other people first.
