Age is an absolute mind fk isnβt it.
Each time you get naked, look in a mirror you lose yourself bit by bit.
You no longer recognise yourself, feel yourself or like yourself.
You struggle with physical tasks, you puff going up stairs, you find it hard to walk long distances & you have no idea how to help yourself or where to begin.
Going to the gym is scary & let's be honest you don't know what to do & you don't have any support. Its a no win.
Im in my late 50s & everyday I fight the same battles.
Your sitting there looking at my pics thinking your really not, I am I just do stuff to slow it down, I could be worse if I didn't.
Everyday there's a new wrinkle, a saggy bit and my body is forever changing and there are bits I hate and yes it does get me down, I feel low and feel invisible sometimes. But im not ready to give in yet and growing old gracefully is not on my remit.
Im in good company here at the gym and dont feel as isolated as I should because everyday I work mostly with woman who feel the same.
They all do the gym like me for the same reasons. The knowledge begins here.
Does it turn back time obviously it doesn't but it makes you able to cope with it.
Learning to love yourself isn't easy but its possible no matter what age you are or the stage you are it. It also doesn't matter about your age or your fitness level. That can all be changed. Im the example.
