Had a wonderful day yesterday celebrating the first year of the Hive in Lennoxtown. I have met so many incredible people while volunteering here this last year and am absolutely delighted that so many in the local community came out to celebrate with us yesterday. Looking forward to next year and beyond, especially as we will be providing even more well-being sessions for individuals and groups.

Since May 2024 I've been on the board of a local charity in Lennoxtown called The Hive.
As well as providing a community shop and warm space, we've had holistic therapists providing well-being sessions for the local community, and we'll be continuing to do that this year.
I've held some well-being workshops and menopause masterclasses as well as providing 1-2-1 sessions in Hypnotherapy, Hopi Ear Candling and Indian Head Massage. I've added a link to the website for anyone who stays nearby and would like to find out more, and some photos of the well-being space upstairs (the art is provided by the charity chairperson who is also an incredible artist!!).

Together we can make a difference and provide hope to those who need it most.

Last year, I signed up for not one, but two cooking classes. Over 12 weeks I learned (and made) some incredibly tasty and healthy recipes, met amazing people, learned some more about food and nutrition, and topped if off by being invited to speak about it in a podcast! All because I dreaded helping Maria with her math homework (a hang up from my school days) despite loving statistics as part of my degree and working in finance for over 15 years!
At the start of 2024 I had no idea this would be such a big part of my year and beyond. Hope you all had some amazing unexpected surprises in 2024 and here's to even better ones in 2025!!

You can have a listen to the podcast here :)

Now that the school holidays are over, Luke and I are out for a couple of hours and I get some time to relax while he enjoys the ball pit. Missing Maria after having her with me daily for the past couple of months but back to work for me on Friday building my new website.

For the past 2 weeks I've been attending a cookery class on a Thursday evening to help my maths skills and cooking skills.
Last week we made chicken and vegetable korma with naan bread...an added bonus is that the recipes include ingredients that are 'menopause friendly'. So, for me this is self care as I get to learn, be creative and do something I enjoy, plus i get to meet some lovely new people as well as eat healthy meals and work on my maths skills to help my family with homework!!

Lorna at Ramekin and Rolling Pin in Kirkintilloch has some really great classes, and is a great chef and teacher!

Really looking forward to the next 4 weeks and so are the family!!

January absolutely flew in. Cannot believe we're in February already....and It's FABruary for me, woohoo...an extra day to show myself some well deserved self care. Starting off with some 80s cheesy pop!!

I was updating the family calendar for this month, and on the 27th, I'm out to see Rick Astley with the girls.

Nothing like some feel-good music to get those happy hormones dancing 🕺 👯‍♂️ 💃

Had fun today getting set up on Todoist to move away from paper and get more systems in place to help stay organised. I even have a Christmas project set up!! I figure now that the shops are starting to get lit up and the Christmas adverts are out, it's safe to mention it...or am I wrong?

It's back to work, school and nursery for me, Maria and Luke after being off ill with one bug then another for most of the past 2 weeks. There was a lot of rescheduling to do but fortunately it's back to normal today, fingers crossed, although I'm still adapting to the new school routine (it was much easier when they were both at nursery!).

Over the years, I have grown to love being organised and managing my time (I even investigated the relationship between mood and gender on time perception tasks for my dissertation), so I happily spent some of the weekend planning my schedule for the days, weeks and months ahead.

Lately I have been using more tools to help me, and now regularly use a monthly habit tracker, a household planner, a colour co-ordinated google calendar, and I carry a diary around with me (mainly because it has a notes section that I can jot things down on before I forget them).

I find that the more organised I am, not only do I get more done (including daily self-care) but I also have more free time and less stress, although it still doesn't guarantee that I'll always be on time lol.

With perimenopause in full swing it also stops me from forgetting half the things that I have to do, but unfortunately not with forgetting where I've put things, usually the car keys!!
