This is one that catches so many parents out 👀

I bought these myself thinking “fruit rolls = fruit”… but when you flip the pack and actually read the label, it’s a different story.

The Winders are marketed as fruit rolls, but they’re packed with things like palm oil, added sugar, glucose syrup, flavourings and emulsifiers 🤦🏼‍♀️

That doesn’t mean you’re a bad parent – the marketing is designed to look healthy.

The Bear Yoyos I’ve shown here?

Just apples, pears and blackcurrants. That’s it.

This isn’t about being perfect or never letting kids have treats – it’s about knowing what you’re buying and having better options when you can.

Always turn the pack around.
Ingredients matter 🤍

Magnesium isn’t a “sleep aid”.
It’s essential.

This mineral is involved in hundreds of processes in the body — from nervous system support to muscle function and energy production.

Yet so many people are quietly low.
Modern diets, stress, caffeine and ultra-processed foods all contribute.

And when magnesium is low, it doesn’t always shout.
It can show up as poor sleep, tension, headaches or that constant wired-but-tired feeling.

One important thing most labels don’t tell you?
Form matters.

Some types are absorbed well. Others… not so much.
This isn’t about trends or quick fixes.

It’s about supporting daily function with the right foundations.

🍟 Better chip options for kids (not perfect – just better)

I’m not here to demonise chips (because… kids 😅)

I’m just here to show that some options have fewer ingredients than others.

👉 Look for:

• Higher potato %
• One oil instead of multiple
• No batter, colours or fillers
They still get the chips they love —
just with a simpler ingredient list.
Small swaps. Real life.

Because fed kids > perfect kids 🤍

Nitrites & processed meats - what’s the concern? 🤍

You’ll often see nitrites added to processed meats like bacon, ham, sausages and deli meats. They’re used to help preserve colour, flavour and shelf life.

The concern comes from the fact that when nitrites are heated or digested, they can form nitrosamines, which have been linked to health concerns when consumed frequently and in large amounts.

The World Health Organization has classified processed meat as a Group 1 carcinogen - meaning there is strong evidence it can increase cancer risk.

That doesn’t mean eating bacon once in a while is dangerous, but it does highlight why regular, high intake isn’t ideal.

💡 Context matters
• This is about frequency, not fear
• Occasional consumption is unlikely to be harmful
• Whole, minimally processed foods are generally a better everyday choice

As always, this isn’t about perfection - it’s about being informed, reading labels, and making swaps where it feels realistic for you and your family.

Small changes. Better awareness. No panic 🤍

You don’t get to ignore your health forever.

I’ve seen it time and time again — people running on empty, pushing through, putting everyone else first, until their body eventually says enough.

Looking after yourself isn’t selfish.
It isn’t a luxury.
And it definitely isn’t something to “do later”.

It’s the small, boring, consistent things that matter most — sleep, food, movement, stress, and what we put in and on our bodies.

You don’t have to overhaul your life overnight.

Just start choosing yourself a little earlier 🤍

Follow for honest, nurse-led wellness tips, small swaps, and real-life health advice — no extremes, no perfection.

Not all kids’ yoghurts are created equal 🥄

This isn’t about banning yoghurts or making food stressful.

It’s about understanding what’s more processed and choosing a better option most of the time.

Same fridge..
Very different ingredient lists.

👎 Petits Filous
• Added sugars
• Thickeners & flavourings

👍 Better swaps
• Yeo Organic
• Suckies

✔️ Fewer ingredients
✔️ Organic milk
✔️ Still kid-approved

If yoghurts are a staple in your house (same 🙋‍♀️), small swaps like this can really add up over time.

Not all kids’ cereals are created equal 🥣

This isn’t about banning cereal or making breakfast stressful.

It’s just about understanding what’s more processed and choosing a better option most of the time.

Same aisle.
Same price range.
Very different ingredient lists.

✔️ Higher fibre
✔️ No additives
✔️ No palm oil

One has 42% pork and needs fillers, stabilisers and preservatives to hold it together

The other is 90% pork with a short, recognisable ingredient list.

This isn’t about “good vs bad” or banning foods — it’s about making small, realistic swaps where you can.

Especially when you’re feeding kids and just trying to get dinner on the table 🫶

If you want help swapping anything from your weekly shop, comment below and I’ll try my best 🤍

11/01/2026

I’m starting a new series focused on ditching one ultra-processed food at a time 🛒

Ultra-processed foods (UPFs) make up a huge part of many weekly shops — often without us even realising. They’re everywhere, heavily marketed, and completely normalised.

This series isn’t about perfection or cutting everything out. It’s about small, realistic swaps that actually feel doable in real life — especially for busy families.

As a parent, I know first-hand how hard this can be. That’s why each week I’ll be sharing better, realistic swaps that kids can still enjoy, without turning food into a battle.

👉 This week’s example: fruit shoots & flavoured waters
They’re often seen as a “better” option, but many still contain sweeteners, flavourings and additives.

A simple swap? Try cartons of fresh juice, which typically contain far fewer additives — moderation still applies.

If you want to try a swap, it doesn’t have to be this. It can be anything from your weekly shop that you’re ready to ditch.

💬 Tell me in the comments:
• what are you planning to ditch this week?
• what would you like help swapping?

Let’s do this together — one small change at a time 🤍

Omega-3 isn’t a “nice to have” - it’s essential 💚

It plays a key role in brain health, heart health, inflammation, skin, eyes and overall development.

Yet it’s one of the nutrients many of us are quietly missing.

Personally, I don’t eat oily fish. Never really have.
So for me, omega-3 isn’t optional - it’s essential in my daily stack to make sure I’m getting what my body actually needs.

Plant sources are great, but the conversion to the active forms isn’t very efficient, which is why quality and consistency really matter.

This isn’t about perfection or fear - it’s about understanding the basics and supporting your body with the right foundations.

Small daily choices really do add up 🤍

Are you getting enough omega-3?

Last night was such a reminder that 2026 is the year I step outside my comfort zone ✨

So grateful to have attended Ele Summers’ social media event - such a lovely night filled with inspiration, honesty and big energy 🤍

Loved hearing from guest speakers Abbie Blyth and Kira With Noe.

And honestly, such wise words from Ele’s husband as well.

More rooms like this. More saying yes. Here’s to growth, discomfort and backing yourself ✨

💭 What’s one thing you’re stepping outside your comfort zone for this year?
