When I first conceived and wrote the Priestess of the Dark Goddess Course, I found the book A Heroine’s journey very helpful. Written as a response to Joseph Campbell’s A Heroes Journey by one of his colleagues, Maureen Murdock, after a conversation with Campbell in which he said “Women don’t have a Hero’s Journey, they don’t need it” to paraphrase, she was moved to prove that a false premise. He, so typical of male academia, denied us the need for our own psycho-spiritual journey of discovery and redemption and dismissed us as irrelevant in the same breath.

Our Heroine’s journey is far more complex than that of a man, something that was not in the comprehension of Campbell, nor indeed any man. With their privilege in life they can’t imagine the struggles women go through, even today. It’s like having multiple personality disorder, and I say disorder deliberately because since our ‘liberation’ in the 60s we have had to life multiple lives and do so many tasks, be so many things to so many people, that there is hardly any time left in the life of a modern woman to even draw breath out look after herself.
We are in a permanent state of exhaustion, lurching from task to task like a drunk, always aware that we do none of them to our standards, our satisfaction, our best ability. Set up to fail by the system, we feel a permanent failure and in the last decade with the whirlwind of technological change top our lives, I have seen it increase rather than decrease.

In the 50s almost everyone had an automatic washing machine that would make life easier, so they said. But has it?
Now there is no wash day and it’s just a little side job the woman of the house can do whilst also cooking, cleaning, supervising homework, after a long day at work, where she gets underpaid for the same job a man does.
There is no coming home and resting for women with families, which is why world wide women start to rebel and stay alone. Only to be called selfish and callous as birth rates in the West are dropping.

SPIRITUAL PICK ‘n MIX
So I get quite a few emails each day, both from people in my spiritual community and my professional therapist community.
For years new ages agers, Wiccans and other Pagan folk have leant heavily on CG Jung’s theories, usually just the tip of the iceberg (if you are a Jungian psychologist this pun may be funny) but without understanding the while which takes many years of study because it is so incredibly rich.

Now I have noticed that Psychologists who have scoffed at the notion of a divine, benign, loving presence as “emotional bypassing” suddenly have found “God, Spirit with a capital S, and subscribing to Shamanic practices and psychedelics.

Don’t get my wrong, the great, late Stanislav Grof did this in the 60s, with great success, especially in the Dying Process. But he got so much stick for his ideas. He was considered a complete maverick by many.

If these Scientists follow the same trajectory as so many spiritual Teacher who try to bridge the gap between Science and the Spiritual than good and well but of it’s only because Spirituality is a good pay day in this troubled world, then shame on you.

CRYSTAL HEALING FOR THE MOTHER WOUND

In last night’s Virtual Temple for the 2nd Spiral we had a wonderful Visual Quest led by crystal mage Priestess Arianwen to see/acknowledge/ and heal more of our Motherwound.

My mother has been in the Spirit World for a long time, after the most horrid and emotionally and,I suspect, physical abusive marriage to a complete Narcissist who was only able to see himself. But that came from his wounding.
Are narcissists made or born?

The spiral of enquiry goes deeper, I walk down the spiral staircase of my own unconsciousness and each time I start another turn I’ve learnt more about my family and their collective wounds.
To help understand myself better, a quest for self knowledge that has gone on for as long as I remember.
By now one would have thought it was done, finished, shadow work complete. 😂
Not true, not yet: wait, there’s more! As one comedian used to say.
So we walk on, we remember, we heal, we forgive.
When we point to the Motherwound in spiritual healing, no one ever asks:” but what about her? Who wounded her?
All too quick we point to our own flaws, faults and failures and blame them on our loveless and cruel Mother. If we follow that train of thought, the majority of Mothers are psychopaths who created a world of emotional cripples.

High time to wake up, take responsibility for our personal issues and give Gratitude for our Mothers who at least put their health and bodies on the line to give birth to us.

This month is the season of the Mother in our year cycle. Let’s hear it for the girls, let’s celebrate the Mothers.

So, I am going to be controversial for a change, what’s new?
I’m seeing lots and lots of these new workshops about intuitive Tarot Reading in a day, after which you can set yourself up as a professional Reader.

Why not? I hear you ask.
It’s not really real.
It can’t really change someone’s life, surely not?
No one’s gonna die if it’s wrong?

Actually they might!!!!
Often people that I see are at a cross road and desperate to get answers or messages.
I talk to their “team”. You don’t know what that is? You can’t do that?
Then DON’T pretend to be a Reader.
Because you don’t just look at the cards, you connect with all the Beings that are there for that person.

You know how to attract negative psychic attention?
Pretend to be something you are NOT.
Would you go to a Reader that has no experience and one day/two day training?
A Healer that has trained for two days?

I go on two day courses, in fact I have a preferred provider.
🌹 I am mostly in company of already established Healers, it’s like a mini healing conference.
🌹 I update, learn, enliven my skills (no one healer knows everything and healing knowledge is developing as awareness and awakening is growing).

Because that’s what it is: psychic…. Soul to Soul.
To be able to connect with someone else’s soul in a meaningful and healthy way takes training. There are protocols so you don’t harm and are not harmed in return.

You’d like to think so, wouldn’t you.
Have you ever connected your soul to a desperate Person’s soul? Seen their decay and despair?

Anyway, You can harm by telling someone to do something and it ends badly. You can interpret the cards in a way that may be interpreted as an answer to a specific situation, which may end badly.

We are already once again under fire. There are those in power who channel The witch hunter spirit.
Be careful with trivialising and carnvivalising/cannibalising our Craft.

Be confident that you are a safe pair of hands.

That you have protection.

That your protection is flawless.

That you are connected to the soul team and not something dangerous floating around.
