Here's a round up of the last few days:
On Friday I took Harry to the vets, and the only way I could get him there was to put him loose in the car, stop at the pet shop on the way past and buy a lead and harness, as I had an inkling that he would be quite cool with wearing a lead and it would be a lot less trauma than trying to get him in a cat box (it took me, Pete and Alice and a lot of chicken to get him in the box to get here!) So I did exactly that and my intuition was right, he styled out the lead really well, and I got him in there with a bit of pulling and cajoling. Once in the treatment room he chilled out pretty well and even laid out on the floor eating chicken. The vet said he needs a regular monthly steroid anti inflammatory injection, which she gave him, along with the decent proper flea and worming treatment. She said once the itch / scratch cycle is under control he'll get a lot better.
I've been brushing and combing him daily, which he loves, and getting out lots of little scabs so his coat feels so soft and his skin underneath so much better. All until you get to the back end which is still bare and red raw.
The injection must have made him feel so much better as he's relaxed so much more, explored the house and even started scratching his post.
And of course I've tried taking him for walks as we have the lead now!
Today we've been chilling on the balcony in the sun and he's loving life.
Also a shout out to Jean Ann for supplying the Aloe First Aloe Vera spray, which we're both using for our respective skin conditions. My psoriasis is totally raging so I hoping the Aloe spray might help, my elbows are so bad they really hurt. I try and get the spray on Harry when I can or put it on my hands and stroke him with it. So I'll keep you posted on the hoped for improvements!
So far Harry has met Lucy, Deb, Verity, Edy and Peter, Andrena and Jean Ann, Laurence and of course the vet and team. And not forgetting Carol my lodger who is growing more fond of him!
He's such good company, I can't wait to come home to hang out with him, he helps me feel less lonely (I know get the tiny violins out 🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻🎻)...
Cheers Harry!
Big love everyone 💖💕💖💕💖😻😻😻😻😻
