What is Pharmacy First?
The NHS has launched a new service to give patients the opportunity to access appropriate urgent care services in a convenient and easily accessible community pharmacy setting. The pharmacy first scheme means patients across England can now receive treatment from their local pharmacy for 7 common conditions without needing an appointment with their GP.
The conditions are as follows and patients will have to meet a criteria to receive treatment, ie a course of antibiotics.
* Sinisitis (12 years+)
* Sore throat (tonsilitis 5+)
*Earache (1-17 years)
*Infected insect bite (1+)
*Impetigo (1+)
*Shingles (18+)
*Urinary Tract infection (women 16-64)
The pharmacist can provide antibiotics or viral treatment for all of the above conditions if required and the criteria has been met (Age, duration of symptoms etc)
Patients can walk in to request a consultation anytime, be referred by their GP or by calling NHS 111.
The pharmacist can can also offer a virtual consultation by phone or video call.
Just a reminder of our opening hours.
We are open Monday to Friday 9AM until 6PM.
