Today weโ€™re marking Motherโ€™s Day by celebrating all the incredible women and mother figures who nurture, support and care in so many ways - mums, grandmothers, step mums, foster mums and everyone who takes on a mothering role.

We also hold in our thoughts those who are missing their mums, those separated from them and those remembering someone special today. However Motherโ€™s Day feels for you, youโ€™re not alone.

Today weโ€™re highlighting what to share with your GP about your family history of .

If someone in your family has had bowel cancer, you may feel worried about the risk of you and your family having bowel cancer too.

Most cases of bowel cancer arenโ€™t passed down through families, but your risk might be higher if you have a close relative such as a parent, sibling or child who has been diagnosed with the disease. If youโ€™re unsure about your risk or what this means for you, weโ€™re here to support you.

๐Ÿ’— Breast screening can save lives - but getting there isnโ€™t always easy.

If you have a Breast Screening appointment at the Screening Van at Glossop Tesco, there is low-cost, door-to-door car share transport available to help you attend.

No one should miss an important appointment because of transport. This service is here to support local people in getting to their screening safely and easily.

๐Ÿ“ฃ Please share this post so more people in Glossop know help is available. You might help someone get to an appointment that could make a real difference. ๐Ÿ’—

๐ŸŒฟ What is Social Prescribing?

Social Prescribing is a service that helps people improve their health and wellbeing by connecting them with local support, activities, and community services.

Instead of focusing only on medical treatment, Social Prescribing looks at what matters most to you. A Link Worker will spend time talking with you about your goals and help you find local opportunities that could support your wellbeing.

This might include:
โ€ข Community groups
โ€ข Volunteering opportunities
โ€ข Wellbeing activities
โ€ข Practical local support
โ€ข Help building confidence and social connections

Social Prescribing is not a crisis or emergency service, and it doesnโ€™t provide care packages or household services. Its aim is to help people feel more connected, supported, and empowered within their community.

If you think Social Prescribing could help you or someone you know, get in touch to learn more. ๐Ÿ’ฌ
