                                            With New Year Resolutions in full swing, we wanted to share some guidance around FAD DIETS.
A little about Fad Diets and what to stay away from;
A Fad Diet is a plan that promotes results such as fast weight loss without robust scientific evidence to support its claims.
Fad diets can be tempting as they promise a quick fix to a long – term problem. However, restrictive, or extreme diets that have no scientific basis can put your health at risk.
Stay away from diets that:
- Promise rapid weight loss of more than 1kg of body fat a week such as the keto diet or extreme or total fasting.
- Promote the avoidance or severe limitation of a whole food group.
- Recommend magical fat burning effects of foods such as the grapefruit diet or hidden ingredients in foods or alleged fat burning substances such as green tea extract or raspberry ketones.
- Suggest substituting everyday foods or food groups for expensive doses of supplements, expensive ingredients, or special products such as the bullet-proof diet.
- Promote eating mainly one type of food (monodiet) e.g. cabbage soup diet, chocolate diet, or eggs diet, or avoiding oil cooked foods (raw food diet).
These are just a few examples of Fad Diets to avoid, however for a full list and more information, follow the link below;
