Escento Soaps

Escento Soaps Natural, ethical soaps traditionally handmade using the cold process method. Glycerine rich. The very best reason to use handmade soap is the ingredients.

Many years ago when my eldest daughter was a baby she suffered with eczema. Generic soaps were harsh on her sensitive skin and I was horrified to discover the synthetic and disturbing ingredients in these commonly called soaps. So I decided to make soap. Glycerine is created during the soap making process and softens and moisturises skin. Glycerine is hugely beneficial to your skin and many soap companies extract this from their soaps to sell to the cosmetics industry. Handmade soaps are the real deal and typically rich in antioxidants, nutrients and produce a luxurious lather. I do not use palm oil in soap making due to the devastation the palm oil industry is causing. I choose to use natural colourants and essential oils for their wonderful healing and valuable properties. I take pride in the ingredients used. Goats milk has amazing benefits for your skin and my range of these soaps are mild, soothing and wonderfully creamy.

Over a decade ago I started Escento. I’m more passionate about my work in the charity sector than making soapy delights now.
It’s just not viable anymore as many are saying.
Thank you to all that supported me I can’t thank you enough.
Even these lovely cowboys can’t tempt me to keep slogging on with it.
This page will disappear at the end of the year. I may have some sale goods prior to that.
Keep buying local or BYE BYE local 💕💕

Escento will not be attending any further markets or events. It’s been over 10 years since Escento began.
After COVID I increased some voluntary work that resulted in my starting a part time role in 2022. For over a year this role has been full time. I love working for a great charity and the work can be challenging and tough, but it’s such an important role. Combined with Escento it’s proved hard especially of late.
A dear friend suddenly passing very recently has only cemented my decision. Life is too short and tomorrow is not promised.
I’d rather continue my passion of helping others than making soaps etc. Prices of olive oil and cocoa butter along with other quality ingredients have rocketed and I think the universe has been telling me something for a while now.
I’ve been overwhelmed by the support and every sale was a genuine pleasure, regular and new customers were wonderful. A special thank you to all those customers. A huge thank you to all the lovely friends I have met trading their lovely wares and to the organisers especially at Stroud Farmers Market with the guaranteed good atmosphere and reputation.
I’ll keep an online presence for now.
Love and hugs 🥰

Our Story

The very best reason to use handmade soap is the ingredients. Many years ago when my eldest daughter was a baby she suffered with eczema. Generic soaps were harsh on her sensitive skin and I was horrified to discover the synthetic and disturbing ingredients in these commonly called soaps. So I decided to make soap.

My daughter no longer suffers with her eczema and hypersensitive skin. Whilst I cannot legally claim that my soap has curative properties, it is my pleasure to share this happy coincidence with you! I take pride in the ingredients used including nourishing oils and butters such as coconut and avocado oils. No chemicals, no synthetics, no detergents and chemicals, no SLS, no nasties at all! Goats milk has amazing benefits for your skin and my range of these soaps are mild, soothing and wonderfully creamy.
