                                            💧 Post-Op Lymphatic Drainage: Let’s Clear Up a Few Myths 💧
There’s a lot of misinformation out there about post-op lymphatic drainage massage, so let’s set the record straight 👇
🩵 “It hurts.”
False! Post-op lymphatic drainage should never hurt. It’s a very gentle, precision-based treatment designed to support healing — not cause pain.
⏰ “You have to wait 6 weeks.”
Also false! The sooner you start, the better. You can begin treatments as early as 24 hours post-surgery (depending on your surgeon’s advice).
👐 “It’s the same as a regular lymphatic drainage massage.”
Nope! Post-op lymphatic drainage uses specialized techniques, such as the “butterfly,” which gently and slowly moves excess lymph to unaffected lymph nodes.
Your therapist will also be looking out for any potential complications — like seroma or fibrotic tissue — to ensure your recovery stays on track.
⸻
✨ Why it’s essential:
Surgery temporarily compromises your lymphatic system — the part responsible for transporting toxins and supporting your immune function.
Post-op lymphatic drainage helps boost your system, reduce inflammation, and speed up healing.
