April 16th is Blue Umbrella Day, the International Day To Protect Boys From Sexual Violence β˜‚οΈ

All children are affected by sexual violence, but boys continue to be overlooked and cannot access support.

The Centre of Expertise on Child Sexual Abuse estimates that 5% of boys/young men in the UK experience some form of sexual violence before the age of 16. Meanwhile, research by the University of Washington suggests that globally one in six boys first experienced sexual violence before the age of 18.

This Blue Umbrella Day, we are advocating with over 27 organisations in over 22 countries.
We need to listen to survivors, break the silence in our communities and strengthen families so they can support boys to heal.

We also need to develop gender-sensitive policies and services to prevent and respond to sexual violence against children. Together we can protect boys better πŸ’™

Stress Awareness Month – April 2026

This graphic has been designed by one of our Duke of Edinburgh young volunteers, who is working with The Moving On Project to raise awareness of issues that matter to them and to ensure young people’s voices are heard.

Stress can affect young people in many different ways, including tiredness, irritability, worry, and feeling overwhelmed. These experiences are common, but they can still have a significant impact on daily life, education, and relationships.

At The Moving On Project, we see how stress and anxiety affect the young people we support. Our counsellors provide a safe and confidential space for those aged 11–25 across Gosport, Fareham, Portsmouth and surrounding areas.

Raising awareness is an important step in helping young people feel understood and supported, and in encouraging open conversations about mental health.

And how often have you said "it was ok, I didn't do anything exciting" πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ

This convinces our brains that rest and relaxation is negative and leads us to think we've wasted our time, decreasing our self-worth πŸ˜”
