Emergency Alerts Test: Sunday 07 September at 3pm:
The UK government will conduct a national test of the Emergency Alerts system on Sunday 07 September at 3pm.

The Emergency Alerts system is an important tool for reaching the public in emergency situations.
Since the first national test of the system in April 2023, five alerts have been sent, including during major storms when lives were at risk.
Regular testing ensures the system is functioning correctly, should it be needed during a life-threatening emergency.
The Emergency Alerts system is used to warn if there's a danger to life nearby, including extreme weather.
Compatible mobile phones and tablets will receive an alert, which will sound like a loud siren and vibrate - find out more at gov.uk/alerts
For those who need it, information on how to opt out is available on gov.uk/alerts.
You can also learn about how to prepare for an emergency at gov.uk/prepare.

Your mobile phone or tablet may get an emergency alert if there’s a danger to life nearby. Alerts tell you what to do to stay safe.

Invitation to Coffee Morning: Fixing the broken SEND system for families across Thurrock

🗓 Friday 18th July, 9:30 AM – 11:00 AM or 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM

📍 Grays (location will be shared after confirmation of attendance)

I know first-hand how broken our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) system is.

As a parent to a disabled daughter, I’ve faced the same battles many of you have, navigating a chronically underfunded, understaffed system that too often leaves our children behind.

In autumn, the Government will set out their plans for SEND reform. Before that, I want to bring together parents from across Thurrock, to identify the biggest barriers facing young people in our area.

I will feedback your key concerns in Parliament, pushing for the changes local families want to see.

This coffee morning will be a chance to:
☕️ Share your experiences in a supportive space
💬 Hear from other families on the same journey
👩‍🏫 Speak directly with professionals in the SEND field
📢 Shape the national conversation on SEND reform

Please email me at jen.craft.mp@parliament.uk to register your attendance.

If you can’t make it but want to share your thoughts, drop me an email and I will send a link to my survey. If you’d rather send your story via a video message or voice note, please do!

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Jen

In the coming weeks we will be introducing a new free parking system for Blue Badge holders.

This will work with our Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) parking system to improve your experience when visiting our Basildon, Broomfield and Southend Hospital sites. Please note that until we move to the new system you will still need to validate your permit on site.

You can get ahead of the upcoming changes by pre-registering for an ongoing Blue Badge permit. To pre-register you will need a mobile phone and an email address. Please follow the steps here to pre-register: https://www.mse.nhs.uk/parking-at-our-hospitals

ParalympicsGB welcomes the Prime Minister’s announcement of new School Sport Partnerships and a new Enrichment Framework for schools to ensure all young people have equal access to PE and school sport.

Since Paris 2024 we have been working closely with the Government and the sector to kick-start a real change for the 75% of disabled children not taking part in regular school sport and PE.

We await the detail on the Government’s plans but our Paralympians’ call remains clear: There must be equal access to school sport for all disabled children in the UK.
