Understanding the Chakras... - Chakras can be interpreted in different ways.
It's interesting to explore the ancient yogic understanding and where contemporary ideas came from.
For each individual, there may be a particular approach, whether tradional, psychological or contemporary, that is more interesting for us. Each framework offers different insights and practices but for all, chakras are for understanding human experience and transformation.

Nervous System Training and Building Resilience Through Balance -

You learn to stay calm under pressure, regulate breath, soften tension, and stay present

Losing and regaining balance helps your nervous system practice bouncing back from everyday challenges.

You increase your window of tolerance
You build the capacity to handle more without shutting down

Balance improves interoception—your ability to feel what’s happening inside so you can recognize and respond to stress early.

The Balancing Act of Yoga Practice
Working with balance in yoga is a holistic practice. It's not just about muscle strength or alignment - it's about the mind, body and senses.
It's about recognising that balance itself is a fluid practical skill; it changes moment to moment and day to day.
All of the wobbling develops those practical skills in a way that represents real life, where we are most likely to overbalance during movement, not when we are standing still.

So the next time you fall out of your pose, don't worry. It's a practice for real life.

Practise your wobbling this week in class...

Tuesday morning Gentle Yoga - is it right for you?

Looking for a welcoming morning yoga class that supports your health?
Join the Gentle Yoga sessions on Tuesday mornings, online.
This is a varied and accessible class, perfect if you prefer to move steadily and mindfully—whether that’s due to your current life stage, or if you want to be carefully about not over-doing things, or it's simply your preferred yoga style.

We focus on improving movement, balance, and gentle strength, while also helping to ease general aches and stiffness.
The class starts with chair-based yoga, but incorporates standing movements for strength and balance, lying postures for relaxation and seated postures with more breathing emphasis. There's always time at the end for rest and relaxation; time to unwind fully, preparing you for the rest of your day.
It's an oasis of calm when life can be hectic.

This class is ideal as a gentle introduction to yoga, to return to movement perhaps after injury or back pain or as a follow-on from Yoga for Healthy Lower Backs.
It's an online easy to follow class and utilises the morning when most of us feel more energetic.
Please contact me for any further details and I'd love to see you there.
