It’s Back Care Awareness Week 💛

Your spine is an absolute masterpiece of form and function, so let’s look after it ! 🌿

A study by Rodriguez et al. in 2022 found that Pilates had the highest likelihood of reducing both pain (93%) and disability (98%) in people with chronic lower back pain - outperforming every other exercise intervention studied.

The secret? Strengthening deep postural muscles, improving spinal mobility, and building lasting core stability. For best results - consistency is key, which is why I always suggest mat-based exercises for clients to practice at home in between lessons.

It’s Back Care Awareness Week 2024🧡

Supporting clients to manage and resolve back pain is my absolute passion!! So I am spreading the word of the importance of back health and the vital role that Pilates can play with five fav artworks that celebrate the incredible spinal column 🫶

Pilates is an evidence based approach for managing and recovering from lower back pain. Although the majority of exercise and movement regimes will have a positive impact, the most beneficial programmes are those that include 1-2 sessions of Pilates or strength exercises per week (Rodriguez et al, June 2022).

It is for this reason that I always set mat based homework for my private clients as well as my group reformer classes . I have also created a range of back care classes to release, mobilise and strengthen the spine for their amazing newly launched app 📲🥳

Thanks to ‘Women in Diplomacy’ HCA UK and Live Brave Pilates for inviting me to speak last week about the huge benefits of movement and exercise for our overall health as we head towards menopause and beyond 💪🦴.

It was such a privilege to share my knowledge and passion alongside some incredible expert speakers including Dr Laura Munoz, Shushma Srikrishna and Gabrielle Morse from London Bridge Hospital.
