Compass will be looking to enter the charitable space (most likely as a Community Interest Organisation or Non-Profit) in North East Lincolnshire in 2025 to provide evidence-based mental health provision that is simply not available within local services. We will be renamed to Northern Star as to not confuse with the brilliant services offered to young people by Compass GO locally.

Not everyone fits in to the box of short-term CBT provided by IAPT whilst MIND, the largest funded, tax exempt mental health charity in the UK are charging £50 plus per session for therapy locally.

Since the pandemic, the cost of living crisis and my own personal poor experiences of statutory services across areas of the UK myself has given me a lot of time to reflect on what and where I want to be in life and my community.

Many people are suffering - especially those who cannot afford to wait or pay money for a decent standard of private care provision outside of the NHS and I am committed to making any positive change across Lincolnshire.

If you know anyone in the field whom would want to express an interest in getting on board in the near future or would like to express your ideas, please feel free to message me on LinkedIn.

Regards,
Zachary

I personally miss the freedom of being able to enjoy views like these readily - the freedom of being able to get away to simple escapism in the natural world for a few days was always great and to connect to the wider world and connect deeply to a sense of self and purpose (the picture taken was just over a year ago on the Yorkshire coast if anyone wonders!).

Until such a small feeling of luxury and freedom has gone we often don't realise how much these things mean to us or how we take them for granted. 🔥

As the pandemic and the, at times, questionable handling of it has gone on (and continues to do so) many of us have been affected negatively and faced incredible hardships and traumas from such sudden changes in life circumstance and continued uncertainty. It would be false of me or anyone else to say we feel or haven't been affected otherwise and living in a tier 3 area has been an incredibly isolating experience to say the least.

Self care should always come first - if you can't look out for yourself, you can't look out for other people. 🌱

the first unknown step of reaching out and realising, and then acknowledging that something *really isn't okay* and something needs to change is definitely the hardest in my experience, both with clients and on a personal level. anyone should be proud if they are at that pivotal point as it signifies a readiness to change a status quo 👊
