Growing up around his dedication and care gave me a natural understanding of just how much compassion, care, and dignity matter when supporting families through loss. Since 2013, I’ve been creating and leading funeral ceremonies that honour the lives, personalities, and values of those being remembered. I take time to listen, gather the stories and small details that matter, and craft a service that feels truly personal, whether it includes faith, family traditions, humour, or simply meaningful words and music.

Some services stay with you forever… and the service for Eric Lane will certainly be one of them. 💞

Every funeral should reflect the character, personality and charm of the person being remembered and Eric’s service was no exception. A true one of a kind gentleman, full of humour, warmth and cheeky character right until the very end.

Eric was well known for his trademark middle finger salute, so naturally it simply had to make an appearance during the service too. I can safely say it was the very first time in my career that I have respectfully delivered a middle finger salute during a ceremony… and, it was absolutely perfect for him!

Today, his beautiful family surprised me with the most thoughtful gift connected to that moment. The second it was handed to me, I instantly knew exactly who it was from and it made me laugh out loud.

What a privilege it is to create services that feel personal, authentic and truly reflective of the life being celebrated. Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the ones filled with laughter. 🤍

🌹I’m always incredibly mindful about what I share on this page, as funerals are such personal and sensitive moments for families. This post has been shared with love, laughter and with the kind permission of Eric’s family, in honour of a truly unforgettable gentleman whose humour was such a huge part of who he was. 🤍

Valentine’s Day is often about flowers and cards, but it’s also about the love that quietly lives in our hearts ❤️

For some, that love is quiet. A hand to hold is no longer there. A voice can no longer be heard. But the love you shared will never fade 🕊

Today I am thinking of all the people whose love is still felt, even if it cannot be seen 🌸

Lots of Love… Not LOL 😉

It’s been a little while since I last posted. The weeks seem to slip by when you’re meeting so many lovely families and helping to tell their stories. Some full and well-lived, one heartbreakingly young, some traditional, some light-hearted, and a few that were very very naughty, all shared with care and love.

This week brought a moment that really made me smile 😅
A lovely lady I was meeting with had sent a message to let everyone know her sister’s funeral details, but her phone wouldn’t stop pinging with odd replies. People were saying things like “That’s not funny” and “Why would you say that?”

When I looked, her message said:
“We now have a date for [lady's name] funeral. It’s on [date] lol.”

I asked if she meant to write lol, and she said, “Yes, it means lots of love.”

When I explained it actually means laugh out loud, her face was a picture. She swore out loud, laughed and said, “Ahhh Laura, can you write a message I can quickly send them all to put it right?”...No problem!

Once it was sorted, we both had a good chuckle, and yes, that little moment has found its way into the service, as her sister would have loved it ❤️

🐾 Parody Post – Just for Smiles 🐾

Hello, I’m Diesel.

I’ve recently been promoted to Assistant Manager for Laura Thompson Independent Celebrant (that’s my human mummy!) while she had a much-needed break.

Well of course I managed just fine. I have one blue eye, one brown, and I don’t miss a trick. 👀

Now she’s back, refreshed and recharged, I’ve decided to branch out on my own. You’re now looking at the proud Director of REST IN PETS – The Pawfect Send-Off. 🎩🐾

I specialise in dignified farewells for squeaky toys, tea towels, cushions, garden frogs, and the occasional sock.

I don’t take bookings or business from the public… but as you’ll see in the comments section 👇I’ve been managing to expand my little venture quite well on my own! 😉

Sending big hugs, woofs, and licks to anyone missing a beloved pet today. I hope this post brings you a smile. 💙
