Congratulations to Alice Cheney, a Vet Nurse from our Vets Now Hemel Hempstead clinic, for winning the Louise O'Dwyer Bursary! 👏

The bursary, which we set up to honour the legacy of one of our incredible educators and nurses, provides £2000 CPD funding to a vet nurse who demonstrates exceptional dedication to advancing their discipline. Alice's application reflected her passion for education, commitment to veterinary care, and drive to support fellow nurses.

Kelsey Lowe, Animal Care Assistant at our Vets Now Farnham clinic has been volunteering with Cats Protection🐱

After completing her EMS placement with the charity, Kelsey was so inspired by the team’s dedication that she returned to continue supporting the cats in their care.

From socialising playful kittens to offering comfort and reassurance to adult cats, she describes the experience as incredibly fulfilling. With ambitions to specialise in feline medicine, particularly kidney disease in cats, the opportunity to support a rescue centre so close to her heart has been especially meaningful.

Kelsey says "Supporting rescue centres is invaluable, whether through volunteering, adopting, or simply spending time with animals in care. The appreciation they show for even the smallest gestures is immense, and it reinforces how important it is to give back.”

Last week, our Principal Vet Katherine Barrett delivered an engaging talk at University of Surrey Companion Animal Clinical Club, exploring the approach to polytrauma in ECC. She guided attendees through the primary and secondary survey, whilst using a real-life case of RTA with urethral trauma seen at Farnham to bring the discussion to life.

What an insightful session, thank you to everyone who joined us!

Filled with insightful case presentations, meaningful reconnections, and plenty of shared learning, it was truly inspiring to see the impact you’re each making, and we couldn’t be prouder of everything you’ve all achieved. 🌟
