Chairperson - volunteer role advert
We are hiring!
Based in East Lothian, Muirfield Riding Therapy is one of the largest, dedicated Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) centres in Scotland. With a herd of twelve ponies and a large, active volunteer group, we are looking for a new Chairperson to lead the Board of Trustees and to help drive the strategy to deliver leading edge therapy services to our participants.
You will be responsible for providing leadership for the board of trustees; planning the annual cycle of board meetings; chairing and facilitating the board meetings; giving directions to board policy making; representing the organisation at appropriate events; acting as a spokesperson for the organisation where appropriate; support of key personnel; participating in other tasks as they arise from time to time, such as interviewing new staff, helping with fundraising; keeping informed about the activities of the organisation and wider issues which affect its work.
Experience required
Leadership skills; integrity, strategic vision, and good, independent judgement; decision making skills; strong communication skills; tact and diplomacy; an ability to work effectively as a member of a team and an understanding of the legal responsibilities of trustees
Voluntary Sector experience and knowledge of RDA are desirable, although not essential as we will support development in those areas.
Time Commitment and Location
This is a part-time role voluntary role. We are based in East Lothian but much of the work could be completed remotely.
