So what do you make when you have leftover bread? Trev Clarke decided to make a bread pudding. Joy and Janet enjoyed cutting off the crusts from two loaves of bread (which the birds had) We then ripped the bread up and added sugar, spices, eggs, milk and lots of dried fruit and mashed it all together. We all had a stir and smelt the mixture together.

Everyone loved the mixing and smelling of the mixture, once in the oven you could smell it throughout the home. We look forward to trying it later on our tea trolley.

A day of games and music today. This morning in games Elaine Palmer had Scrabble out As Yo, Janet, Peter and joy played. Lots of great words including best, great, sail and grin.

In the afternoon Libby from musical moments came to visit with lots of lovely songs including coming round the mountain, getting to know you and finishing with thank you for the music. Our residents love music and singing as you can see by their reactions.

A lovely mixture of music, yoga and word games today. We enjoy our musical memories with Jayne Whitehead including lots of old music from all the years and playing musical instruments too.

Meanwhile John was busy first of all having a bit of a pamper having his nails cut and hands massaging. Following this we finished his Lego car with Trev Clarke. John was so impressed with it and can't wait to try a new project.

1130 every Tuesday is yoga live from Sri Lanka, stretching, moving and even laughing all happens in this session which we look forward too.

It was word games later, while we had a team playing Scrabble we also had word games in the lounge too.

Another busy day with friends at Hadleigh Nursing Home

A morning of quizzing this morning. Starting with completing the phrase. “A friend in need is a friend........."
We also had a picture round guessing what the pictures were including fruits and then famous people. Of course we then had some general knowledge too.

In the afternoon we had our new horse racing game and had 10 people racing. Trev Clarke handed out betting slips as we cheered on the horses 🐴

The inflatable dice then came out for giant snakes and ladders. Splitting the room into two teams we enjoyed throwing the dice (mostly at Trev) and going up the ladders but more times down the snakes 🐍.

Today Jayne delivered our weekly leaflets to all the rooms. This shows what's happening for the coming week and has puzzles on too. While this was happening Trev Clarke was doing one to ones with residents including Jessie who enjoyed doing a jigsaw puzzle.
Later we had our cinema afternoon. With a large screen, projector and speaker it really did make today's film an experience. Can you guess the film by the video clip?
Later Kay and Joy tested out our new horse racing game. We are looking forward to bringing it to a larger group soon and having some fun bets.

John's determined to finish his Lego car but even the construction master is finding this one tricky. Don't worry John, Trev Clarke will help you finish it.

Jayne Whitehead got everyone engaged with her pom pom music session. Janet was on the dance floor showing her moves again seeing how low she can go.

Later on Trev was leading the singing and action songs including some warm up songs of daisy daisy, and can't help falling in love. Then we got the tempo going with the birdy song, hokey cokey then coming round the mountain.

We try to keep the momentum going in the home and keep our minds busy.

Happy 78th birthday to Kay. Kay really enjoyed a game of Scrabble with her friend Jessie this morning. At lunch time we sing her happy birthday, presented her with a big chocolate cake, flowers, cards and also a lovely warm scarf.

We really enjoy musical memories, choosing music we loved to hear. Today's choices included putting on my top hat by Fred Astaire and also please release me by Engelbert Humperdinck. Our residents also like action songs too like coming round the mountain and hokey cokey. Nothing is off limits.

After all these action songs it was time for yoga. Our yoga class is streamed from Sri Lanka. Our regular instructor is very good and interactive with our residents to make it fun for them. One part we enjoy is the leg kicks which turn into the can can. At the end we look forward to the laughing exercise as loud as we can.

In the afternoon Trev Clarke put his apron on and helped make waffles. Our little cooker heated up as we weighed the ingredients and whisked the batter. We offered a choice of lemon and sugar, syrup or raspberry jam.
