on the drive back from Canacona, South Goa, to the airport (around 1 hour 40) I wrote this post in my head. Running through the stories of this trip, and now I’m not sure I’ll get to it., not in its fullness at least. Posting seems quite the chore at times.
What I will say is that I enjoyed slow days, very low alcohol consumption, daily physical yoga, daily theory / learning on anatomy and philosophy and bitesize conversations with new and old faces.
I could tell you all about the array of characters I came across, from the minute I landed to the bus I just got off that took me from T1 to T2 in Mumbai. Sally-who had been coming for 40 years and was leaving for good due to North Goa being sadly unrecognisable now. She used to work in the music industry in London many years ago and has since been a wanderer seeing rugged landscapes, and has no base but had a strong contentment in vibe. She said fu* #, a lot. I liked her.
One of the first people I met happened to live 2 streets down from me in London. I do hope he finds the right side of Goa and achieves the changes he is seeking. You can do it, Baxter. 💪🏼
And about the newly together couple I had dinner with, quite a story. She may even come to my workshop. He is now on a solo led mission across the world seeking the truth serums of the world. Good luck, Dave 🙏
And then there are the familiars, the wonderful souls that are part of the tapestry that is South Goa, and its essence to me and my experience, every time . ❤️
I got through 4 books. None of which were highbrow so I won’t share those - but they permitted a light escapism and welcomed indulgence. I tend to doom scroll at home and get heavy shouldered with the world’s ongoing devastations.
As usual I fed the cats and dogs. The dogs seemed to prefer the cat food and the cats never seemed quite satisfied with the portions…
See you this week, folks. I’ve missed teaching and can’t wait to see you all.
