Imbolc blessings 💖 Happy 1st February
The 1st February is the cross-quarter day between the Winter Solstice and the Spring Equinox and it is a powerful symbolic day of the promise to come.
Traditionally first lambs of the season also brings ‘milk in the belly’ of the sheep which meant fresh milk and cheese to eat. Now we may not need to follow these traditions any more but they are powerful energy symbols that we should embrace.
The first signs of new life are everywhere from the lambs to the shoots of green poking through the ground.
We start to sow the first seeds of the growing year and with the way of the world right now it has never been more important to learn to feed ourselves.
This cross-quarter day tells us to embrace the energy of love this month; begin with ourselves, love for those around us and love for the world we live in. It is a reminder that we all have an inbuilt connection - to nature through the biophilia hypothesis and to each other through energy.
It tells us to see and appreciate each moment, each connection and understand our part.
There is a Japanese Proverb that has always stayed with me "each moment only once" Ichi-go ichi-e (一期一会), which translates literally to "one time, one meeting". Rooted in the tea ceremony, it teaches that every encounter and experience is unique, fleeting, and never to be repeated, urging people to cherish the present moment.
As new life begins to emerge we have the opportunity to look at our own lives - what do you see in you that is unique, that you need to cherish because YOU matter and are worth it.
So using the saying ‘share the love’ has a deeper meaning - first we must love ourselves so that we can share the love.
So I challenege you this month - look within and discover the love for yourself and once you do, let it shine and discover a new love for life around you, one moment at a time 💗💗💗
