Getting back to posting photos with a strong start... Beautiful had her pawdicure today. 🐾✨. Helping dogs were their nail clipping at home seems like a small thing to do but for the individuals it is huge. To be able to hold space for them, listen to them and meet them where they are at is so important and the only way I will work. It builds to trust over time and allows true fear free cooperative care to develop. Cedar is doing so well with all of her training and we love her so much.

You may have noticed I haven’t been posting as many lovely pet photographs lately, and that’s simply because I’ve been incredibly busy behind the scenes caring for all of your wonderful animals.
Over the past few weeks I’ve welcomed lots of new clients for dog training, nail clipping, and my connection-based intuitive animal support work, which has been so lovely and I’m truly grateful that my business continues to grow. And pet sitting season is just getting busy.. including spending quality time with these two gorgeous boys who are so very dear to me.
April is already looking very full, and I’m so pleased to be busy doing what I love.
If you are thinking about booking for May, whether for pet visits, training, nail clips, or support sessions, please do get in touch as soon as possible so I can reserve your space.
Thank you for helping my small business grow — it means the world to me 🐾✨

Whisker fatigue in cats… have you heard of it?

A cat’s whiskers are incredibly sensitive — they’re designed to help them navigate their world, detect movement, and feel safe in their surroundings. But when those whiskers are constantly brushing against the sides of a deep or narrow bowl, it can actually become uncomfortable or even stressful.

This is known as whisker fatigue.

✨ What to look out for:
• Hesitating or pacing around the food bowl
• Pulling food out onto the floor to eat
• Eating little and often rather than finishing meals
• Seeming interested in food, then walking away
• Drinking less than usual

✨ How to help:
• Offer food on a flat plate or shallow dish so their whiskers aren’t pressed back
• Use a wide-brimmed bowl for water to reduce contact with the sides
• Choose glass or ceramic bowls (these are hygienic and don’t hold odours)
• Place water where natural light can catch the surface — this helps highlight the meniscus (the slight curve of the water), making it easier and more appealing for your cat to see
• Keep water well away from food — cats naturally prefer this, as it’s an instinctive behaviour to avoid drinking near their food source

Sometimes the smallest changes can make a big difference to how comfortable your cat feels at mealtimes 💛

If your cat seems fussy, it’s always worth considering whether their setup — not the food — might be the issue.

Little Bella has had a haircut. I didn’t think she could look cuter, but she does! She saves her nail trimming for me though as she prefers to have it done at home 🐶🩷 I’m just a bit in love with this little dog 😍

Today was a day of learning, observing, and deepening my understanding of our dogs 🐾

I spent the day at a really insightful workshop with Annette and Sarah, both incredibly knowledgeable in canine posture, movement, and the subtle observations that can help us recognise where physical discomfort may be present.

Annette, a Tellington TTouch practitioner , and Sarah, a canine massage therapist , shared such valuable perspectives on how dogs move, compensate, and communicate through their bodies — often in ways that can be easy to miss if we don’t know what to look for.

As both a registered veterinary nurse and animal training instructor, I complete 30 hours of CPD each year to maintain my professional standards… and days like today make learning so much fun. Over 30 years that’s a lot of learning! Good job I never get bored of dogs 🤣

The more we understand the physical side of our dogs, the better we can support their behaviour, comfort, and overall wellbeing 💛

It’s all connected.

Feeling very grateful to keep learning, growing, and bringing this knowledge back to the animals (and people) I support.

There’s something truly special about meeting a dog exactly where they are 🤍

This was only our second session together, right in the middle of a busy town centre… so many sounds, movement, people, pigeons!! A lot for a young mind to take in.

Instead of asking for too much, too soon, we focused on connection first. Time to pause. Time to observe. Time to simply be.

Recall training isn’t just about fast results. it’s about feeling safe enough, grounded enough, and connected enough to choose you, even when the world feels big.

Following on from yesterday’s thoughts about the gifts our dogs give us… this is one of the most important gifts we can give back: ✨ The space to adjust. ✨ The patience to listen. ✨ The understanding of what they’re truly ready for

When we slow down and tune in, something shifts. Confidence = Calmness. Calmness = ability to learn successfully 🩷

For a puppy, this environment could have been overwhelming… but with calm guidance and connection, he found his way through it. And his recall? Beautiful.

He did so well 💛 and I was proud to work with him.

One of the many great gifts our dogs give us… is the opportunity to go outdoors 🌿

They bring us back to what really matters.
Fresh air, movement, presence… and the quiet reminder that nature always knows the way.

When you look around, nothing in nature is rushing or forcing.
Everything is working together, in harmony, growing… from a place of balance and calm.

And for me, that’s the lesson.

No matter what chaos is going on around you today…
Take a moment. Step outside. Breathe.

Let nature guide you back to where you need to be 💚 I wish you the most wonderful magical day 💚
