Mother’s Day felt like the start of my upward phase again…
but the run up to it had been a lot 💛

The juggle of work, home, family life… being the default parent and carrying the mental load — it all adds up.

And this month my body definitely let me know about it (the kind of period that humbles you 🙃).

So I’ve been making a conscious effort to slow things down where I can, nourish myself better, and actually listen to what my body needs.

And interestingly… I feel clearer, lighter, more like me again.
(although let’s see what next week brings depending on where I am in my cycle 😅)

Mother’s Day… actually the whole weekend, was full of simple but really lovely moments (because let’s be honest, that’s a lot to fit into one day 😅).

A much-needed massage, fresh air, park run, dog walks, breakfast in bed (still finding crumbs 😂) and an adventure at Go Ape.

But it also reminded me of something I see every single day in clinic:

So many women are holding everything together…
whilst quietly ignoring what their own body is trying to tell them.
Putting up with symptoms
Feeling disconnected
Pushing through pain, leaks, heaviness, tension or fatigue
Or just feeling like something isn’t quite right

This is exactly why I do what I do 💛

My Mummy MOT / Women’s Health assessments are about more than just pelvic floor exercises — they’re about taking the time to properly check in with your body and support your recovery.

A little bit about how I got here…

Most of the time on this page I share a lot about women’s health physiotherapy, which is something I feel incredibly passionate about.

But the truth is my journey into women’s health started with a strong foundation in sports injury rehabilitation — something I still love and enjoy today.

Earlier in my career I worked with a wide range of musculoskeletal and sports injuries, including time supporting the military and working with athletes from Chelsea F.C. Academy.

That experience taught me so much about injury recovery, movement, rehabilitation and helping people return to the activities they love.

Over time my work evolved into women’s health physiotherapy — supporting women through pregnancy, postnatal recovery, pelvic health and hormonal changes.

But at the heart of it all, it’s still about the same thing:

Helping people understand their bodies, recover from injury and feel strong and confident in how they move.

So whilst you’ll often see me talking about pelvic health and Mummy MOTs here, I still work with plenty of sports injuries, back pain and musculoskeletal conditions in clinic too.

And honestly… I love the variety.

This week has been… a lot 💛

Between a full clinic, life moving at full speed, and then discovering the field by the studio was flooding, we’ve spent evenings digging trenches in the garden to stop the water coming in.

Mud everywhere.
Very sore arms.
But I’m pleased to say — so far — the studio is dry.

Last night we looked out and the studio genuinely looked like it was set on a picture-perfect lake (swipe / see photo 🌊). Beautiful… but also a reminder.

Sometimes self-care looks like digging trenches.
Putting boundaries in place.
Stopping the overflow before it reaches the places that matter most.

And if I’m honest, I realised this week I haven’t been doing that for myself.

I spend so much time caring for others — my clients, my daughter — making sure everyone else is nourished and supported. And yet I so easily skip my own meals, my own rest, my own needs. Knowing what to do doesn’t make us immune from needing help.

This week I stopped and asked for support — and it reminded me that this isn’t selfish. It’s self-preservation. And it’s essential.

So if you’re feeling a bit flooded, stretched thin, or quietly putting yourself last… this is your gentle reminder too 💛
