I believe that you have to look after yourself first in order to be able to look after those you love, HOWEVER finding time to yourself can be really hard with a newborn (and possibly older children) around.

So this class gives you the chance to do something for you by bringing babe along to enjoy your yoga practice too!

Here’s what you can expect from the class:

❤️ First and foremost a safe, nourishing space where you can come exactly as you are to relax, re-energise and feel supported
💜 Sequences to build strength, particularly in those areas that have become weaker during pregnancy
🧡 Postures to protect against or release discomfort from the repetitive movements of ‘mum life’ (e.g. bending, lifting, sitting with poor posture for feeding etc)
💛 Dedicated time to breathe, move, relax and bond with babe
💚 Connect and share with other new mums and their little ones
💙 Relaxation, breath work and meditation to quiet the mind and soothe the central nervous system
🩷 Readings, meditations, poems usually from my absolute fave

Suitable for beginners or experienced yogis, from 6 weeks postpartum for vaginal births and caesarian section births or once you have had the all clear to exercise from your GP or women’s health expert. This class is suitable for babes who are pre-crawling.

After almost three and a half joyful years as the custodian of the beginners yoga class it’s time for me to pass the class on to the next lovely teacher.

It has been such a pleasure to take this class, to see practices and relationships evolve over the years and I will always be really grateful to for passing the class on the me, for being part of the wonderful Moor Pool community and for the commitment and friendship of those who have joined me.

It has been a hard decision but as my children get older working evenings isn’t working for us as a family and, as the saying goes, family comes first.

I’ll miss everyone from the class and hope to keep in touch. I will still be offering all of my private sessions, pregnancy yoga, mum and baby classes and workshops from the garden studio and leads our monthly Nidra nights and look forward to seeing some of you at those 🙏🏻❤️

I’m happy to say that a super new teacher is ready to take over at Moor Pool starting on Thursday 9th January. Lise is passionate about running the class for true beginners and those who like a slow, mindful practice (see details in photo 2).

And continues the intermediate class on Mondays at 7.30pm.

✨Grounding and Warming Yoga and Essential Oil Bath Salt Workshop✨ WINTER EDITION ✨

9th February 10am-1.30pm

♦️Hannah from Sage & Grace is back at the studio with her ever popular essential oil workshop but for the first time with her beautiful hand-crafted bath salts. Hannah will begin with a brief introduction to aromatherapy, including how essential oils are created and their healing properties. You will go on a sensory journey with a selection of essential oils and use your workbook guide that has been carefully created by Hannah to help create your own bespoke essential oil blend for your bath salts (RRP £15). The bath salts contain a beautiful blend of natural salts, therapeutic minerals and flower petals and are packaged in a glass bottle.

🔸next, refuel and connect over tea and some nourishing handmade snacks.

🔸finally, a 90 minute yoga practice guided by me, Abi, to help sooth your body and mind, release tension, energise and build some gentle heat in the body. We will end with a 10-15 minute Yoga Nidra (yogic sleep) to leave you feeling rested and restored

It’s never my intention to make people cry in my Mum & Baby classes (!), but sometimes the tears roll and they keep rolling.

The intensity of motherhood, especially in the early years (and possibly forever?!); the love, the fear, the joy, the hope, the fatigue, the new version of you, changes in relationships with your partner & with yourself and so on…It can all get a little overwhelming and it’s usually when we slow down that we really start to feel.

We need safe spaces to let those feelings out, to calm our nervous system and to give ourselves a break so I hope women feel safe and held enough to be able to release what they are feeling when they come to my classes.

I love to see how women support each other in those moments.

There’s nothing like a poem to illustrate the intense highs and lows of motherhood and all the funny bits in between. Always spot on. 👌

We have one drop-in spot available for Mum & Baby Postpartum Yoga classes on Fridays 1.30-2.30pm for the next four weeks - specific dates below - so if you want to give it a try without committing to a block or can’t attend every week then this could be for you. (You can also sign up to all 4 weeks at a reduced cost).

Slightly late with this post as we’ve been enjoying a change of scene, but with the school summer holidays upon us we’re running a reduced timetable for the next few weeks.

Beginners & Beyond is running as usual with covering 25th July and covering 1st August

The next Pregnancy Yoga class is on 8th August at 6pm. Classes throughout August are filling up so please do book in advance.

Mum & Baby classes are returning in September and I’ll advertise on here when booking is available. I’m also keeping a list of people who would like to be contacted before I advertise so please drop me a message if you’d like to be the first to know. Spaces are limited to 12 Mums & babes across two classes.

Yoga Nidra is back on 2nd September 6.30pm & 7.45pm with the wonderful Jen

Existing private classes are going ahead mostly as normal and I’ll be taking on new clients from September. If you’d like to discuss private classes please drop me a message. I work with a wide range of clients and teach vinyasa yoga and yoga for pregnancy, postpartum and trying to conceive.

Thanks so much to Lorraine from Mini First Aid Birmingham for training us up in Emergency First Aid at Work.

Would highly recommend Lorraine and her team for informative, easy to follow, informal and relaxed first aid training.

Last time I saw Lorraine was 6 years ago when I completed a paediatric first aid course after having my first born. Also highly recommended if you are pregnant or a new parent wanting to feel more confident to administer first aid to your baby / child.

N E W C L A S S ✨Yoga for Teens ✨
(Teenage girls 13-17 years)

We’re really excited to be offering yoga for young people at the studio starting in Spring 2024!

As an ex-secondary school teacher I have seen first hand how stressful the teenage years can be and how important it is to teach our young people strategies to look after themselves and manage stress levels.

As we know, yoga can improve physical and mental wellness and general quality of life, but there doesn’t seem to be many opportunities for young people to explore yoga in the same way that there is for adults…and we’re hoping to change that.

These classes will run in our private and welcoming garden studio, led by Lou, a 200hr registered yoga teacher specialising in yoga for teens and yin yoga. Lou is also a secondary school teacher and loves working with young people. She is excited to pass on her love of yoga and the benefits associated with it through this class.

Lou teaches in a holistic way which addresses the whole person uniting mind, body and spirit by providing a place to escape the pressures of daily life.  

Each session involves movement, breathing techniques and meditation. Stretching and moving through asanas (postures) feels good and releases stress. Breath control helps us understand and regulate feelings and emotions, and meditation offers time for stillness and rest.

These classes are perfectly timed to support young people through end of year assessments & the GCSE exam period. Classes also count towards the physical section of the Duke of Edinburgh award.

We are offering two blocks of six weeks beginning 10th April and 5th June on Wednesdays 4.30-5.30pm. Classes will be limited to 8 students.

We would love to offer classes for boys in the future so please register your interest with Abi if you would like more information about this.

Our next Essential Oil and Rollerball workshop is here!

Join Abi and Hannah in the green surroundings of the Yoga Hart garden studio, Harborne, for an evening of essential oils, yoga, refreshments and relaxation.

Tuesday 19th March 6.30-8.45pm
This would make a brilliant Mother’s Day present 💝

Join Hannah from the excellent Sage & Grace on an olfactory journey in her essential oil rollerball workshop. Hannah will begin with a brief introduction to the basis of aromatherapy, including how essential oils are created and some of their healing properties. 
You will have a chance to test your sense of smell with a selection of essential oils and you will end with the creation of your rollerball, the scent of which you can choose from the list of recipes in your workbook, which have been carefully designed by Hannah.

After a short break for tea and nourishing snacks we will come to our mats for an hour of gentle yoga and deep relaxation guided by Abi to end the evening.

This workshop is suitable for complete beginners and pregnancy.

That’s a wrap on 2023!

We are four years into me being a yoga teacher and two years into our little garden studio and this year has been about consolidating what we’ve done so far, building our community and taking stock of what else we’d like to add going forward.

A huge and heartfelt thank you to everyone who has been involved in Yoga Hart this year - all of our students, teachers and those hiring the studio for their own endeavours. Thank you 🌟

Thank you to and for choosing to teach at our studio and for looking after their classes and their community as brilliantly as they do - I feel very lucky to have these two cherished friends as part of our team.

Thank you to our students as always for choosing to practise with us, spreading the word and generally being the loveliest people! Without you Yoga Hart wouldn’t exist. You have allowed me turn my dream into my reality and I’m excited to see where next year will take us 🙏🏻😘

We’re kicking off 2024 with Hot Yoga 7.30am on 3rd January with with all other classes are back to normal from w/c 8th Jan starting with Yoga Nidra 6.30pm & 7.30pm with .
