Please don’t try to fix me. Don’t take on my pain or push away my shadows. Just sit beside me as I work through my own inner storms. Be the steady hand I can reach for as I find my way.

My pain is mine to carry, my battles mine to face. But your presence reminds me I’m not alone in this vast, sometimes frightening world. It’s a quiet reminder that I am worthy of love, even when I feel broken.

So, in those dark hours when I lose my way, will you just be here? Not as a rescuer, but as a companion. Hold my hand until the dawn arrives, helping me remember my strength.

Your silent support is the most precious gift you can give. It’s a love that helps me remember who I am, even when I forget.

For the first time in 10 years I will be raising my prices from 1st January for new clients only, by £5. I still have reduced fees for students, those on low income and refugees.

Being a psychotherapist means a constant monthly financial outlay of insurances and indemnities, professional membership and accreditation fees, training courses, overheads, supervision, advertising, marketing and my own well-being. But I love this work so much and even today a client presented me with these flowers and that means it’s all worth it. Thank you 🙏

Could you share this post and help us to spread the word about PCU? Our feeling is that most therapists aren’t aware that there is a union that they can join, although most are highly enthusiastic when they find out about us!

The union was formally founded in 2016, but the need for a union for therapists had been increasingly discussed since about 2003. We now have close to 1000 members and the potential for significant growth and impact on the field of therapy, but the more members we have the more we can achieve.

We are committed to our mission of standing up for therapists and therapy. We have a member support team and several active campaigns, including our SCoPEd and EAP campaign groups. We also have an Education Network that brings together therapists working in education settings.

Being part of a union brings the solidarity of joining forces with hundreds of others and campaigning together on relevant issues. Our members and our executive committee understand therapy and understand the needs of practitioners.

We are also, like several other major unions, part of the GFTU (General Federation of Trade Unions) with lots of additional benefits for affiliated union members.

The knife Angel is in my home town Harlow and when I look at this amazing sculpture, I’m reminded of the heartache and trauma each blade represents. I have worked with many victims of knife crime and the wounds never fully heal. 🩷
