I saw a lovely couple recently who reminded me just how much hearing and connection go hand in hand.

When one partner starts missing parts of conversations simply because they can’t hear, it can slowly create distance. Misunderstandings grow, frustration builds, and before long it’s not just words being missed, but moments of connection.

I see this often, especially among men who might not feel comfortable talking about what’s really going on. It turns out it’s not always that husbands aren’t listening, sometimes they just can’t hear!

If you’ve noticed a loved one seeming withdrawn or “not themselves” socially, it might be worth considering whether their hearing could be affecting their ability to engage. A simple hearing check can make an enormous difference and not only to hearing but to confidence, connection, and even relationships.
