Here’s 14 Questions to help you overcome your negative thinking 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

1. Is this fact or just my opinion?

2. Could I be wrong?

3. Why am I so certain of the conclusion I have reached?

4. What assumptions am I making?

5. What evidence is there to support my thinking?

6. What evidence is there to dispute my thinking?

7. What is the worst that could happen?

8. Could I cope with the worst case scenario?

9. How does this negative thinking really serve me?

10. What would someone I trust think of my conclusion?

11. Who says things should be this way?

12. How else might I view this situation?

13. Am I accepting responsibility for something which is not my fault, or within my control?

14. When I felt like this before, what did I think to change my viewpoint?

Do you feel like you’re in a constant battle with your thoughts?

Yep, me too……..

“Why bother, I’ll never do it”

“I don’t deserve this”

“I’m a loser”

“I never do anything right”

“No one cares about me”

“I’m stupid”

Any of these sound familiar??

If you listen to the self help gurus all you have to do is control your thoughts, easy eh??

For me though, The goal isn't to control your thoughts, it's to stop letting them control you.

Let’s be real, it’s impossible to control what thoughts pop into your head but you can control how you respond to them.

You can take the power back 💪🏻

How 🤔

Reframe them / ask yourself better questions

Notice when it happens and take control 👇🏻👇🏻

“I’m no good at this!” ➡️ “What am I missing?”

“I don’t deserve a good life” ➡️ “I deserve to be happy & healthy”

“I always make mistakes” ➡️ “I do many things well”

See how by changing your language it totally changes the feel of what you’re thinking.

Give it a go, get a piece of paper and write down some examples of negative thoughts you have a habit of repeating to yourself, then reframe them. Take back control.

“I’m having a down day”

“My mental health is bad today”

“I just don’t feel like myself today”

Sentences I really don’t like, why? Its really poor language and really disempowering (in my humble opinion)

To make it worse, I caught myself saying it to myself this morning 🤦🏻‍♂️

Me - “What’s wrong with me today! I feel down and just not myself!”

Howay mate!!! What are you on about??!!!

As I’ve said before, you get more of what you focus on and the language you use is a huge factor in helping you choose (it is a choice) where to focus 🤯

So, if I’m saying to myself I’m feeling down, this helps me focus on feeling down and guess what? It keeps me feeling down, why? Because that’s what I’m focusing on!!!

What did I do to snap out of it??

I got my journal out and asked myself better questions. 📝

How do I really feel?

Lack of energy
Tired
No focus
Overwhelmed

How do I want to feel?

Energetic
Happy
Grateful
Focused
Healthy

What am I willing to do to feel like…?(see above)

Use gratitude questions - journal
Meditate
Move - Change state, 20 press ups, 20 burpees
Write a plan for today

What am I grateful for? (Wrote three things down)

My beautiful family who I love so much and bring me so much happiness.
I’m grateful that I have a career that helps me provide for my family.
I’m grateful for my health.

“Down” is just a state, a feeling, the same as “happy” “excited” “grateful” and the amazing thing is you can create any feeling with the right focus and language.

How do I feel now?

F*cking AMAZING!!!

Most people who have gone through tough periods in life later come to wear those experiences as badges of honour, some even take it as “the best thing to have ever happened to them”. As tough as those experiences were they were formative. They made them who they are.

There’s another benefit to so called misfortune. Having experienced it and survived it, we come away with a better understanding of our own capacity and inner strength. Getting through something you didn’t think was possible is so empowering because you know that if that happens again you will get through it “what doesn’t kill me, makes me stronger”.

So today if things look like they might take a turn for the worse or your luck might change, why worry? This might be one of those formative experiences you will be grateful for later.

“Good Habits” V “Bad Habits”

What is a “Good Habit” and what is a “Bad Habit”??

For me a good habit is anything that moves you closer to your goals and the life you want, a bad habit is anything that moves you further away.

Simple as that.

So, a quick example....

If you want more energy.

Would sitting binge watching Netflix for 8 hours, eating crap, drinking coke / alcohol give you energy??

Or

Would drinking water, going for walk in the fresh air, grabbing a healthier snack give you more energy???

🤔🤔🤔🤔

Your habits have to match your goals, it’s as simple as that!!

And the great thing is, you control your actions 🤯🤯

I saw a great quote yesterday from Steven Green “What you put in, you get back out. Your standards are controlling every result in your life. Want a better life?? Raise your standards”.

Start by making small changes.

Ask yourself everyday, is this taking me towards my goals or is it taking me away from my goals?

The decision is always yours

‼️ The Truth About Motivation ‼️

How many times have you said “I’ll do it when I’m motivated”? “I just need to feel motivated”?

That’s the problem, motivation is a feeling

Feelings come from thoughts

So if you’re waiting to feel motivated then you’ll be waiting for a long time!!

There’s two things you can do

1) A quick NLP technique (I’ll share on my story later today)

The most important one 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻

2) Take ACTION!!!

Do it anyway

This will create motivation and give you a sense of achievement, a win!!

Like a ripple, you’ll be more motivated the more you do it 🚀

5 Things To Do Daily To Improve Your Mindset 👇🏻👇🏻

✅ Gratitude
✅ Meditate
✅ Move
✅ Get Outside
✅ Stay Hydrated

You might be looking at these thinking “Nah not for me, I don’t have time”

Gratitude - 2 minutes, get a journal, open notes on your phone and write down 3 things you are grateful for, this can be anything!! Your morning coffee, the sky.....ANYTHING that you are grateful for.

Why? It’s hard to be angry / frustrated when you’re in a state of gratitude ❤️

Meditate - Use an app like insight timer, it’s free and you can do as little or as long as you like. Try a 5 minute guided meditation. Honestly, try it! I can really tell the days when I haven’t.

Move - Do something that makes you sweat or gets your heart rate up. More importantly, something you enjoy!! You don’t have to do a couch to 5K or an hour at the gym. Go for a walk, box, tennis, football. The secret is, do something.

Get Outside - Combine move and go for a walk, I’m lucky enough to live by the coast so I love going down to the beach. Just get outside.

Hydration - If you don’t drink much water now, just increase it. Aim for 2 litres, I have a 2 litre bottle that I fill and keep it close by.

With any habit change, keep it simple and keep it easy so you can get your consistency.

🚨 We Love A Label 🚨

Don’t we just!!! We label ourselves, other people....

I’m......

He’s......

She’s.......

The problem with labels are the become a self fulfilling prophecy and we do our best to fit into them

So much they become our beliefs about ourselves!!!

When you use one, your unconscious mind then looks for examples from the past to confirm it!!

I’m not good enough!! You’re right, remember that time when you....

When you hear yourself thinking it, acknowledge it and try the simple challenge technique on slide 9
