I believe that the time I spend talking to my clients, providing a safe and empathetic space to share feelings, is just as important as the physical touch of reflexology. Both together is magical ✨️

Touch is one of our most basic, primal needs, starting at birth and continuing throughout our lives. Reflexology uses a particular "affective touch," which activates the parasympathetic nervous system.

Humans are also wired for social connection. The brain responds to strong social ties by releasing serotonin and dopamine. The relationship created with a therapist can provide this social connection.

To read more about how reflexology can bring powerful benefits of social connection and touch, read my latest blog www.clairelorrainereflexology.co.uk

Hopefully, you have already heard of the main benefits of reflexology such as improved sleep & wellbeing, reduced tension & stress.

But how about lesser known but powerful benefits? Over the next few weeks, I'll be sharing how reflexology can have a significant impact on your wellbeing, such as the power of touch & social connection, deep relaxation, mind body connection, guilt free rest in a safe space and the benefits of looking after your feet 👣💕

I've had a few maternity clients recently and my first postnatal treatment. It was such a privilege to treat at this special but challenging time. It has been my dream for many years to help women at this stage, and I can't wait to expand these treatments 💕

I have always been very active. One of those people who loves sport & exercise (which can be quite annoying to others 😄) Over the last 2 years, I have really struggled with worsening perimenopause symptoms, stubborn weight gain & fatigue. I almost gave up on all the things I love, mainly running and Mtb, which I absolutely love. I don't really recognise myself anymore.

Yesterday, Strava kindly told me that this time 4 years ago, I did a 15-mile MTB around Blackdown. It was both depressing & inspiring.

Today, I went out and did 5 miles on my bike at Blackdown. It was so hard but I was so happy. I decided that I could either give up or do something about it.

I am determined to sort it out and spend the summer getting my fitness back.

I'm posting here to make myself accountable but also to say if you are struggling in perimenopause, you are not alone. So many of us are, and we can help & support each other. Don't give up! ✨️ 💕
