Wholesome weekend 🥰
My sons football got cancelled this weekend so we had a spontaneous couple of nights away to one of our happy places.

I got to read my book on the beach feeling some spring sun on face, listening to my two most favourite sounds - my twins laughing and the waves of the sea. Bliss.

Coastal bike ride 🚴 ice creams 🍦meals out🍷
arcades 😅 🙈 bowling 🎱 and best of all family time playing games together 😍

It's so important to take a break and do things that you love.

Spring is here 🌞🌻

World Book Day 📚
Mary Poppins has popped into the Playroom today to surprise the children having Play Therapy.
I just wish it was as easy as pulling my kit out of her carpet bag and clicking my fingers to tidy up 😅

It's Children's Mental Health Week.
And I'm sharing some ways to support your child when they are having a difficult time...

❤️ Connect with them- Connection is ALWAYS key!
Get down to their level, meet them where they are at emotionally, and give them your full, undivided attention.

🧡 Validate their feelings- Say phrases such as...
"I hear you"
"It's safe to feel these feelings here with me"
"I can see you feel really angry/ sad/ frustrated"
"I know you are having a hard time, I'm here with you"

💛 Encourage physical activity - Movement helps. Go for a walk together, suggest a physical sport or outdoor activity.

💚 Listen without trying to rescue - Actively listening without jumping in to make them feel better or trying to problem solve is very powerful.

💙 Do something fun together.

When your child feel connected to you and loved unconditionally despite their big emotions, they are more likely to open up and express their feelings.

💚 Happy New Year 💚

Today's Mindful Monday is about the importance of making time to rest and recharge this January.

💫 As mum's, December can be overwhelming and exhausting!
We plan, organise, prepare, buy gifts, and do our best to make everything magical.

💫Then January arrives with society's expectation to make resolutions and become a 'Better You' at at time when our energy levels are low and days are cold and dark.

💫 I personally have never bought into new year resolutions, I think any day you can choose to make a positive change or a first step towards something you want.

💫 But January (in my view) is a time to slow down and recharge our batteries, to learn from nature that we need to rest, WITHOUT FEELING GUILTY!

💫 Have early nights, say NO to things you haven't the energy for, eat nourishing food, wrap up warm, light candles. Take a moment to sit with a warm drink and be still.

💫 Model to our children the importance of taking care of ourselves and making time to rest.
