I'm currently watching "Groomed: A National Scandal"
To say I'm angry is an understatement.
Up until the late 1990s The police and social services would record grooming as child prostitution!
A child can not be a pr******te! A child is r***d and s*xually, emotionally, and physically abused!
Calling it child prostitution is victim blaming at its stongest. To be able to blame a child for being r***d is everything that is wrong in society.
An adult s*x worker also doesn't choose to be harmed or r***d! Let's get that straight.
These children were vulnerable and apparently let down by everyone who should have protected them.
Why does this cut so deep..
🌠 Because this was me.
🌠 Because I was vulnerable, despite thinking I was older than my years.
🌠 Because it took me until a few years ago to truly understand what happened to me.
🌠 Because I know as an adult it was not my fault or choice to be r***d.
🌠 As a woman, I am aware that so many women have been r***d and s*xually assaulted, whether as a child or as an adult.
Imagine realising what was actually going on then, and building the strength to go to the police to be told...
"You chose this, your vulnerable and putting yourself in risky situations. No further actions / what do you want us to do about it".
I am, of course, relieved that now grooming is recognised as a criminal offence.
💔However, I am heartbroken for all the children who have been broken down and dismissed to this point...
💔I am also heartbroken that despite all the knowledge there is out there now, it still happens now, and sadly, there are still failings.

❣️ For everyone who had their childhood stollen, the shame is not yours to hold.
