World Health Day: Take a Step Toward Better Health!

Are you living with a long-term health condition that makes it hard to stay active? You’re not alone and support is available right here in Hastings.

Our Active Hastings GP Link Worker service can help you improve your physical and mental wellbeing through gentle, personalised physical activity.

✅ If you're 18+ and live in Hastings, speak to your GP about a referral
✅ Or self-refer anytime here: https://www.hastings.gov.uk/sport_play/getactive/gp-linkworkers

Jas, our dedicated GP Link Worker, builds a vital bridge between the NHS and our community, helping guide patients into being more physically active by creating a support system into exercise and helping them take control of their own health.

🎾Do you want to give tennis a go, without the commitment of having to buy equipment? Then we’ve got you covered with our new Community Tennis Racket Loan Programme.

We want everyone in Hastings to enjoy our award-winning courts, even if you don't own equipment. To use the shared pre-loved tennis rackets at Alexandra Park, simply book Court 5 or 6 (where the tennis racket box is located), and after your game, return the rackets to the box for the next players to use. It’s a great way to stay active for less while supporting our new sustainable initiative.

All you need to bring is a tennis ball.

Our community tennis racket loan programme works on a trust basis, and we hope everyone who uses the rackets returns them in good condition for the next players. This scheme will be trialled and if successful will continue throughout 2026.

👉Court hire is £5.50 per court per hour, or you can buy a household membership (up to 5 people) for £39 for the year! Book your court here: https://clubspark.lta.org.uk/AlexandraParkHastings

"It's a great option for those times when money is tight." Active Hastings participant

Since launching our sliding ticket system across all Active Hastings sessions last year, so many of you have told us how much it’s helped make staying active more affordable and accessible. The system allows you to choose a ticket price based on what you can afford, it gives you the opportunity to choose from three ticket options:

🔵£3: Suggested ticket price (to support the running costs of the class and to keep the session going)
🔵 £2: A little helping hand (don't let cost be a barrier, have a lower price ticket if you need to)
🔵Free ticket: Need it on us (for people on low income and benefits).

This scheme has been made possible with thanks to funding from the Hastings & St Leonards Primary Care Network, the Levelling Up Fund, East Sussex County Council Public Health and Active Sussex.

Trying something new isn't always easy.

In fact, when it comes to trying a new activity or sport, 17% of women feel so unwelcome that they have never returned to it - or lost total confidence to try something new.

Movement should feel empowering, not intimidating. Just 10 minutes of movement can have immediate benefits on energy and mood.

Nuffield Health found that a quarter of all women said that being on their period is barrier to undertaking more physical activity.

If you’re looking for ways to move throughout your cycle, why not check out our Go with Your Flow recourses with This Girl Can 🏃‍♀️

⭐"It's a great option for those times when money is tight."

This is just one of the comments we've received since introducing our new sliding ticket system on all our Active Hastings sessions earlier this year. The system allows you to choose a ticket price based on what you can afford, ensuring our Active Hastings sessions are as accessible as possible to everyone in the community.

The sliding ticket system gives you the opportunity to choose from three ticket options:

🔵£3: Suggested ticket price (to support the running costs of the class and to keep the session going)
🔵 £2: A little helping hand (don't let cost be a barrier, have a lower price ticket if you need to)
🔵Free ticket: Need it on us (for people on low income and benefits).

This scheme has been made possible with thanks to funding from the Hastings & St Leonards Primary Care Network, the Levelling Up Fund, East Sussex County Council Public Health and Active Sussex.
