I’m so pleased to finally share this…

I have recently secured funding which means I can offer a limited number of completely free 1–1 Montessori sessions each month for individuals living with dementia in Pembrokeshire.

There is no cost to families for these sessions.

They are designed to gently support independence, dignity and meaningful engagement — focusing on ability, purpose and connection in the comfort of your own home.

Each month, a small number of sessions will be released, and once they are allocated, they are gone.

Did you know that familiar scents can help spark memories for people living with dementia?

During a 1–1 Montessori session we explored spices like cinnamon and cloves. The simple act of smelling and matching them encouraged conversation, curiosity and some lovely smiles.

Small, meaningful activities like this can make a big difference to engagement and wellbeing.

A warm welcome at my first visit to Parc y Llyn Care Home for a Montessori session.

It was lovely to see residents engaging with simple, hands-on activities designed to support people living with dementia.

A lovely visit to Havenhurst today delivering a Montessori group session.

It was also great to meet with some families to talk about how 1–1 Montessori sessions can support their loved ones living with dementia.

This lovely lady is living with dementia and we spend time working together 1–1 using Montessori tasks.

Montessori for Later Life focuses on ability, using familiar and meaningful activities to support independence and engagement.

Today we worked on a simple sorting activity — deciding which items belong in the fridge and which don’t.

Activities like this help reinforce recognition of everyday items, support cognitive function, and encourage confidence through purposeful tasks.

Even simple activities can provide a sense of achievement and enjoyment. 💛

A 1–1 session centred around something she genuinely enjoys — sorting.

Using bright, clear materials and a simple structure, I invited her to help me organise and prepare the items.

Framing it as something I needed assistance with created a sense of purpose and collaboration.

The result? An entire hour of sustained engagement, focus and conversation.

Montessori in later life isn’t about filling time.
It’s about creating opportunities for contribution, autonomy and success.
