Whitesands Sauna Running Club
In collaboration with Pembrokeshire’s super-coach, Claire Owen
Some things are great on their own — but pure magic when combined.
Like berries and cream. Or running and sauna.
Together, they amplify each other’s benefits on every level.
Running challenges the body, builds strength, and releases endorphins.
Sauna increases blood flow, reduces inflammation, supports recovery, and allows the nervous system to fully relax.
Running elevates your heart rate and builds fitness, strength, and resilience.
Sauna keeps your heart rate gently elevated while your body relaxes, delivering a subtle cardiovascular boost for a full hour after your run.
Both Running and Sauna are also great for weightloss.
The format is simple:
• 30-minute guided run
• 1-hour sauna
• A couple of refreshing sea dips
You finish relaxed, clear-headed, and deeply refreshed — having done real exercise, but ending with more energy than you started with.
Meet your coach: Claire Owen
Claire is a lifetime athlete and coach who has helped people reach their potential in sport for decades through coaching, massage, and rehabilitation. She’s an Ironman champion and accomplished athletics competitor — but more importantly, she’s a fun, high-energy local girl from Carnhedryn who makes everyone feel welcome, confident, and laughing along the way.
Coach to 5K Programme
We’re starting with a 6 week Coach to 5K, meeting once a week for a guided run followed by a sauna session.
You’ll progress from a walk-run combination over 30 minutes to completing a full 5km run, all in a supportive, social environment.
