Met this guy 9 years ago and I pretty much have loved him ever since. We have travelled together, moved abroad (and back together), got married, bought a house, sold a house but nothing has been more testing than having children.

We both love them very much but will also agree how your relationship is pushed to the limits and changes like you cannot anticipate. You will argue, ignore each other’s needs, feel resentment and wonder what the earth has happened but the most important thing is to find space to listen to each other, communicate, share appreciation and hug ❤️

Newborn snuggles whilst the mummy’s eat with two hands.

Day 5 and the challenges are there: a new job that you feel under qualified for whereby your services are required 24/7 with no rest; cluster feeding, sleep deprivation and resentment.

There are so many wonderful moments but also moments where you need a break for you to reset. Parenting is hard so it’s important to have your village ready ❤️

I have been super quiet on here as life with young ones is always so busy! Last weekend though I spent in this glorious location for a family wedding. We went child free (the first time together in 4.5 years!) and to say it was amazing was an understatement.

I felt like ‘me’ again or the version of me I remembered pre children. I did not feel guilty that I did not miss my children - I embraced the time alone that I had. I even read some of my book (I had to reread most of what I had previously read as it had been so long but it was still a win!). I love my children but it’s ok to not love every second of being a parent and to crave and enjoy the time you get alone to reset.

I now feel refreshed to begin working with a new client this week ❤️❤️

Having officially supported friends prior to my training with Younique Postnatal in 2022, then going on maternity leave straight away I struggled to see how I was going to get my act together and 'be a' postnatal doula.

However, on reflection (which is often hard to do with small children, well anything is actually!) I am actually proud of what I achieved last year. It may have taken me around 4 hours this morning to create a leaflet and set up a new page but whilst on maternity leave last year, I completed a breastfeeding peer supporter course (with a two month old in tow) and I co founded The Nurture Bubble with Lea Mara postnatal doula (who has been an amazing support : ))

This year I have finally registered with Doula UK, am being mentored through my journey and have completed my first official job!

Welcome to my page! I’m Emma and I first became a mother 4 years ago. This is when my postpartum journey began: a new beginning, a new me and a new passion for postnatal support. .

I gave birth to my son six weeks prior to the first COVID lockdown and living away from family and friends I felt incredibly isolated. I subsequently suffered from postpartum anxiety, rage and depression. After much work on my recovery, I decided I wanted to channel my newfound energy into supporting other families find their new ‘normal’ with a newborn. I therefore trained with Younique Postnatal in 2022 (approved by Doula UK)
