Is Earth’s Weight Decreasing Due to Oil Extraction?
Since 2017, I’ve been exploring a theory: the large-scale extraction of petroleum from beneath the Earth’s surface might be subtly affecting the planet’s overall mass. Every day, millions of litres of oil are removed — a substance that doesn’t naturally evaporate or regenerate at the same rate. This continuous loss could, in theory, contribute to a gradual decrease in the Earth’s inner mass.
Could this be linked to the observed phenomenon of the Moon slowly drifting away from Earth? Some suggest that a reduction in Earth’s mass could affect gravitational pull, potentially influencing the Earth-Moon relationship over time.
While mainstream science attributes the Moon’s recession to tidal interactions, it’s worth asking — are we overlooking other contributing factors?
