Anger is loud. It gets attention quickly. But most of the time, it isn’t the whole story.

When a child is angry, there’s usually something underneath it… hurt, fear, embarrassment, frustration, grief, or feeling left out. When we slow the moment down and help him or her name what’s really going on, everything shifts. The conversation gets calmer. The child feels understood instead of just corrected.

This “What’s Behind Anger?” poster gives you a simple visual to use during calm-down moments, after conflict, or in counseling sessions. It helps build emotional vocabulary without turning it into a lecture. It gives kids something concrete to look at and say, “That’s what this is.”

Brené Brown actually used this exact version in one of her books. That tells you how powerful and universal this concept really is. Anger is often the surface emotion. There’s almost always more underneath.

This photo looks like a total mess, but this is my 'thing' that I am trying to have on the go at home for when I want a bit of time away from the stresses of life and the constant jobs around the house.

I find it very easy to zone out and put the pieces together. It doesn't happen very quickly, but I am more than happy to spend time not thinking. Just looking for simple things, like a straight edge or an eye!

The more puzzles I do, the more I learn that not one tactic works for every puzzle. Not all puzzles allow you to find the straight edges first (that was what I was taught!).

What do you go-to for some mindfulness?

Do you need something physical? To move or to be still?
What's going on in the envionment around you? Is it okay or do you need something more or less than what you are experiencing?
Do you need to be around people and have important connections? Or perhaps some solitude?

I took a walk... If you don't know this area, on the left of this photo/video is a large pool of water. It's been filling up with all of the rain we've been having. The diggers are trying to allow the water to flow out of the pool.

It got me thinking if the pool represented me and what I hold on to. What would I like to release and be able to let go of.

Do you have any thoughts on what you would like to let go of? What beliefs or experiences would you no longer like to carry with you? What is unhelpful? What no longer serves you well? What would help you reduce your mental load?
