The new Dutch-style roundabout along Boundary Way in Hemel Hempstead is nearly finished – and it’s designed with improvements for people walking, wheeling and cycling.

Here’s what to expect when it opens on 2 June:

🔸 Dedicated cycle lanes
🔸 Safer crossings for people walking and wheeling and cycling
🔸 Wider footways and better links to local neighbourhoods

This is part of Hemel Garden Communities’ growing green network – connecting Leverstock Green, Maylands and Woodhall Farm, with links to Redbourn and Harpenden via the Nickey Line.

With up to 11,000+ new homes and 10,000 jobs expected by 2050, we’re making sure it’s easier – and safer – to leave the car at home, especially for those everyday journeys.

The Active and Safer Travel Team have encouraged 100 schools in Hertfordshire to sign up to The Big Walk and Wheel 2025 which is now running until the end of term. That's an increase of 23.45% over the previous year and the highest number of registrations for this wonderful and inclusive behaviour change campaign 🚶‍♀️🏃🛴🦽🚲
