As a community pharmacy, we pride ourselves on not just delivering services, but improving the lives of those in the local community.
Our Making Medicine Management Easier service allows us to provide electronic prescriptions to local residents. Being electronic means they can be sent immediately to us once your GP signs them off, so you receive them quicker, travel less, and avoid hassle with paper.
This can make life easier for anyone, but we have specifically experienced feedback from our older patients that the service greatly helps them in their daily lives.
One of our regular patients is a 73-year-old woman who requires a weekly dose of medicine from us. It is extremely important to her health that she receives this medicine every week, as there are potential health risks if she does not take it. Nothing is more important than the ability for her to receive this medication on time when she needs it.
Unfortunately, due to her age and condition, travelling to our pharmacy each week is simply not possible. Our store is located a mile away from her home, and making the distance there and back once a week is too much for her to handle. She cannot rely on family members to consistently make these trips for her.
Since the Covid-19 pandemic began, it has been especially unsafe for our older patients to enter public spaces. When the primary public health advice is for elderly people to stay indoors if they can, we cannot expect them to risk their lives to pick up their essential prescriptions.
This is where our Making Medicine Management Easier service comes in handy. By dispensing prescriptions initially generated by your GP, we can cut down on your travel time. For our older patients, this means reducing the time they need to travel to receive their vital medication. If they cannot travel at all, our staff can personally deliver their medication to them as part of this service.
Our 73-year-old patient was extremely relieved to discover we can deliver prescriptions to her as it meant she could receive the vital medication she needed with no hassle. Without our staff and their services, she would have been in an impossible situation where she would be without medication that she requires to live in good health.
Our pharmacy exists to serve the community, and we are grateful to be appreciated by all our wonderful patients. Their health is always our number one priority.
