BMG patients, did you know you can often save a lot by buying the same medicine — just in different packaging? 👀

Big drug companies spend millions promoting their brand names… but often, it’s just clever marketing! 🏷️✨

✅ Here’s the secret:
Check the ‘PL number’ on the side of the medicine box.
If two packs have the same PL number, they’re made by the same manufacturer — meaning they’re identical medicines, just with a different label! 🙌

🌈 Omeprazole Update – Reassurance for Our Patients 💊⭐

BMG patients, we know recent news stories about omeprazole have caused some worry.
Here’s the important bit:
✨ Omeprazole has NOT been withdrawn.
✨ We still consider it safe when used appropriately.
✨ If you’re not having side effects, there’s no need to book a GP appointment just to discuss it.
✨ Your routine medication review — or a chat with your local pharmacist — is usually the best place for questions.

As winter pressures rise, this really helps us keep appointments available for those who need them most. Thank you for your understanding and support 💙

🚨🔔 Don't miss out on important updates from the NHS and Bay Medical Group! 🔔🚨

BMG patients, question for our digital patients.
❓In the NHS App do you know what we mean when we ask "are your notifications turned on", do you even know what a notifications is? 🤔
📲Notifications are messages from us, like appointment reminders 🏥 or important health updates 💡.
📣All messages from Bay Medical will automatically go to the NHS App if you have an account. If these messages are missed, or unread after 1 hour they will then be resent as a text message.
🤔If you don't have the NHS App or an NHS account (OMG why not- its a great one stop shop to access us, your GP surgery- to order prescriptions, view your medical record, contact us about requesting an appointment) then don't worry your messages will still go as a text message if we have your mobile number.

To make sure you stay in the loop, here's how you can manage your notification preferences on the NHS App and then you can see your messages from us:

1️⃣ Log in to the NHS App.
2️⃣ Tap the Account icon in the top corner.
3️⃣ Select "Settings."
4️⃣ Hit "Manage notifications."
5️⃣ Follow the link to adjust your device settings! 📲

BMG patients, do you, a family member, or someone you care for need extra support with communication or care needs while in hospital? 🏥
The new Digital Hospital Passports from University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust (UHMBT) are now live and easy to complete online! 🙌

📝 What are they?
Digital passports help hospital staff better understand a person’s needs, preferences and how best to support them – whether it’s due to learning difficulties, dementia, sensory needs, being a carer, or being a veteran .

👣 How it works:
✅ Complete online using NHS number & date of birth
✅ Must be a known patient at UHMB
✅ Once submitted, patients can download or save their copy
✅ Copies are also automatically sent to:
🔹 UHMBT
🔹 The patient’s named GP at Bay Medical Group

BMG patients, we want to say a heartfelt ❤️ thank you to the 1️⃣2️⃣9️⃣5️⃣7️⃣patients in the month of September 2025 , who attended their face to face appointment.
However we do need to tell you that 8️⃣1️⃣1️⃣appointments, were wasted and the patient did not attend .
Sadly 2️⃣3️⃣6️⃣of these appointments were with our most sought after, GP appointments .
All our appointments are very precious to us and to you the patient, so we really do need to know if you cannot attend for whatever reason, so we can give it to another patient.
📢Ways to cancel your appointment if you cannot attend:
📲💻If you receive a appointment reminder through the NHS App or by text you can conveniently reply back to the text, with the word CANCEL. This will automatically cancel your appointment, we can then offer your appointment to someone else so it is not wasted. You do not need to ring the surgery if you use this service. This will also save the main line for patients trying to ring for appointments .
☎We also have a dedicated cancellation option on the main line 01524 235900 option 6, so you do not have to wait in the queue.
Please help us to stop these appointments being wasted.

To ensure we stay at the forefront of healthcare excellence, our team will be participating in a Morecambe Bay wide, staff training half-day training session.
