🚫🍷 ALCOHOL-FREE DAYS – YOUR BODY WILL THANK YOU! 🍹💪
BMG patients, thinking of cutting down on alcohol?
Swapping some of your usual drinks for low or zero percent alternatives is a great way to reduce both alcohol AND calorie intake! 🙌✨
🧠 There's no completely risk-free level of drinking, but here are the UK’s low-risk guidelines:
✅ No more than 14 units per week (men & women)
📆 Spread them over at least 3 days
🚫 Include alcohol-free days every week!
Why it matters? Regular heavy drinking can increase the risk of:
⚠️ Cancers (mouth, throat, liver, bowel, breast + more)
⚠️ Stroke & heart problems 💓
⚠️ Liver disease & nerve damage
⚠️ Mental health issues 🧠
⚠️ Weight gain ⚖️
⚠️ Vascular dementia
📏 Know your units!
🥃 1 shot of spirit (25ml, 40%) = 1 unit
🍷 Small glass of wine (125ml, 12%) = 1.5 units
🍺 Pint of beer (3.6%) = 2 units
🍾 1 bottle of wine (750ml, 13.5%) = 10 units!
💡 Top tip: Look for 0% or low-alcohol drinks – they taste great and help you stay on track!
