Mindsnaps CIC Photography-based Mental Wellness Support and workshops. Using Photography to help with mental health

We started with a Photography-based Mental Wellness Support Group for Men. Which is called Mensnap

Led by Psychotherapist Steve Rose and professional photographer Luke Callaghan. Ideal for men who can find it hard to talk about their emotions, but can find their voice from behind the lens. The group normally consists of around 10 support group members, meeting up every month. The group is normally given photography-related tasks designed to encourage conversations and reflective thoughts about mental health. The Group is open to men of all walks of life and no topic is too big or small with expert advice from Steve Rose a qualified psychotherapist. Luke Callaghan a professional photographer is also on hand to help with any photography-related questions whether you are using a pro camera or a smartphone they will both work fine. After the success of mensnap, Mindsnaps CIC was created which is a not for profit which can carry out the same concepts and tasks as Mensnap but for workshops for schools and businesses.

🚻 How do you divide the households tasks, are they 'gendered'?

According to some studies, women perform 10 out of 14 household tasks.

🩷Pink tasks include cooking, cleaning and laundry🩷
💙Blue tasks include washing the car and taking the bins out💙

The question is, are the tasks assigned on preference, stereotypes, or are preferences generated from stereotypes?

To find more about gender roles from CIC click on the link below to access the video.

Mindsnaps CIC is delighted to announce that we have received a grant from the Young Futures Fund to run workshops in 6 local schools!

MindSnaps workshops help students to access difficult conversations (e.g. stress, bullying, anxiety) through photography, promoting mindful and creative thinking.

Workshops would run in the Autumn of 2025, delivered by Steve (an independent psychotherapist with 30 years of experience) and Luke (a professional photographer and photographer trainer). They are fully funded (with no cost to the schools).

Get in touch to find out more about MindSnap and our workshops.

MenSnap May topic: HOPE

Hope keeps us fighting, however weak we may feel, and us gives the courage share our struggles with those around us. 🌱

Hope doesn't always make life easy, but it makes life possible.

Mindsnaps CIC uses photography to share hope and bring people together. Come along to our MenSnap Meetup June to see how we work and share your own experiences!

If honesty was a photo, what would it look like?

A mirror?
A crack in the wall?
A cup of tea and a long pause?

This month, Mensnap, our men’s mental health support group in High Wycombe, is exploring the theme of honesty. We'll talk about how we show it, how we avoid it, and how it feels when we finally let it out.

Each attendee will bring a photo that represents honesty to them. Then we talk about what came up — in the photo, and in life.

You’re welcome to try it too.

📍You don’t have to share. You don’t have to come.
But maybe you’ll start to see honesty differently.

Come join us on 12 May to discuss honesty MenSnap Meetup May.

At Mindsnaps, we use photography to talk about mental health.

But did you know that photography does more than let you express yourself? Research suggests it can reduce stress, boost self-worth, and lower cortisol, the stress hormone.

Taking photos also puts you in a state of "flow"—a meditative, focused mindset that helps you forget everything else.

How do you use photography to relax?

Struggling with depression but don't know how to talk about it?

Every experience of depression is valid and real, and, most importantly, everyone deserves to feel better.

The first step is talking about it.

Easy to say, not always so easy to do, right? It can be hard to find the words or the right moment to tell someone. But you're not alone.

Join us next Monday at MenSnap Meetup April in High Wycombe. We're here to make mental health conversation easier using photography.

Are you struggling to talk about mental health issues? You’re not alone.

Join us at MENSNAP, our monthly High Wycombe support group where men can open up in a safe, supportive space.

We use photography to start conversations. So just take a photo - something that reflects how you’re feeling. Then grab a coffee and chat with like-minded men.

The conversation starts here.
