Wow.

I relate to 98% of this & learning so much as I absorb my adult diagnosis of being obscurely neurodivergent & gifted.

When a human being is made to feel that they are constantly being labelled against comparison to a “normal” brain & that anything outside of that is a deficit or a disorder, these messages wire our brains to comply, to mask, to try desperately to “fit in”.

The internal mental, emotional, psychological & physical suffocation, sacrifices & damage are lifelong.

We get labelled based on external observations & judgments.

“Inclusion”, if there any in place at all, is actually all about separation from those who are “normal” or neurotypical.
It actually excludes us.

If everyone had their different brain types truly understood, if everyone was nourished to their full potential & autonomy, if deviation from neuronormativity was just seen as another part of diversity, mental health co-morbidities & the extremely high suicidality rates amongst us would plummet.

When will the world really hear us and see us ?

Deficits, Disorders … the real damage behind these labels continues.

Not only do these labels come with many ignorance-based, negative limitations & surface assumptions - but when they are applied to the millions of neurodivergent individuals whose identity centres around high potential, intellectual gifts, abilities & talents, it causes irreversible damage.

Horrific isolation, no sense of meaning or purpose, nervous breakdowns, trauma, PTSD, frequent burn outs & su***de …

Being extremely able in many areas of intelligence, they become “missing persons” inside their own lives.

Instead of being able to contribute, thrive, use their gifts, be accepted for who they are & belong, their real identities become condemned, catalogued & broken by extremely outdated & very faulty neurotypical criteria & social stampings.

So a vast percentage stop waving & just drown.
Silently.
Not a single ripple in the statistics.

Difference Not Deficits.

Currently only 16% of autistic people are in paid employment.

With even more shocking cutbacks for our neurodivergent children in UK schools from Nigel Farage we can confidently expect that grossly unjust figure to plummet, as our children are failed even further.

Autistic children become autistic adults.

The world will be massively missing out on other strengths too such as thinking outside the box, attention to detail, spotting repetitions & patterns, observational skills, excellent memory, creativity, in depth knowledge on topics, incredible researching skills, as well as critical thinking & questioning normative behaviour.

They are also generally less likely to judge.

Unlike Mr Farage & “leaders” like him.

The way to increase budgets is to invest in these human beings so that in the future they can contribute & be included.

As accessing the human right to an education becomes increasingly harder for neurodivergent children & their families, this feels like a cull.

This is my whole world in one tiny little body.

She has filled my life with light again and is doing the same for all the children & young autistic/neurodivergent young adults I work with.

She even joins in with my counselling sessions which I hold for people of all ages.
She’s joy, love & comfort.

In spite of winning community awards & 2 national awards for my work with children, families, schools, the NHS, councils , children’s homes and the prison service, I don’t qualify for Tink’s crowdfunder to be a “project” where I could have what I’ve raised so far matched by a charity or grant.

I have however managed to get the deadline for Tink’s Crowdfunder extended but this is the last post I’m going to write about it.
I’m worried I’m going to irritate everyone with an overload of posts.

Thank you to ALL of you who have so generously donated and blown me away with your kindness.

I’m keeping everything I am crossed in hope that Tink makes it.

As some of you will know my absolutely adored therapy dog Boo passed away very suddenly & shockingly in January. She helped so many of the children & families I work with.

Since then a bright star named Tink has come into my life. She is a completely natural therapy pup already, instinctively knowing which children need her the most.

Sadly Tink was born with a serious congenital heart condition 💔
The good news is it’s the only treatable heart condition in dogs.
The bad news is it costs £5000.

This operation has a 100% success rate & will make all the difference between Tink having the most amazing, magical & full life with all the children I have devoted my life to - or not even seeing her first birthday.

I can’t give up on her ♥️

Donation based workshops from 1 hour to 1 day will be coming up soon to also help raise funds - but in the meantime, with ALL my heart, I am asking for pledges to the crowdfunder for my tiny star, however big or small.

Time is running out and I can’t bear losing her ♥️
