At the start of my yoga journey, before I really understood what yoga was, I made many mistakes that I grew and learnt from. It’s all part of the process… 🧘‍♀️

1. Skipping Savasana because I was “too busy”

I’d follow along online classes and turn it off right before Savasana, not realising it’s the most important part.

2. Treating yoga like a workout instead of a practice

Chasing sweat, not stillness. Forgetting it’s nervous system work too.

3. Showing up with a perfection mindset

Thinking there was a right or wrong way to be on the mat and overthinking alignment over feeling.

4. Ignoring my breath

Following the moves without connecting to the actual anchor of the practice.

5. Only practicing when life felt good

Not realising yoga is often the thing that holds you through the hard seasons.

A year ago I was about to graduate my yoga teacher training. I had no idea where it was going to take me, but it was ended up being the best decision I could’ve made. What a beautiful year. Grateful always. 🤍

A note from your yoga teacher ✏️

1: I’m not judging you. Ever. For being late to class, for knocking your bottle over, for skipping half of the poses, for not being in a good mood or for wearing your pyjamas. You are always welcome, just as you are.

2: I don’t mind if you don’t follow all of my cues, actually I love when you don’t follow all of my cues. When I see you taking a break or in child’s pose or your own variation of a pose, I feel so grateful that you feel safe enough to listen to your body in my class.

3: I think you’re amazing for showing up.
You could be anywhere else, but you chose to spend this time on your mat. I truly appreciate your presence and feel honoured that you chose my class to practice in.

4: Yoga isn’t just the hour on your mat. It’s how you speak to yourself, how you breathe through challenges, how you treat others, it’s your whole way of being.

5: I notice your energy, even if you think I don’t.
The way you smile after class, or soften during savasana. Those little moments remind me why I love teaching.
