In yoga, backbends are so much more than being flexible and bendy. They are a key to cracking open your heart chakra, digging up what you’ve being storing there for too long and showing you the most vulnerable parts of yourself.

I always talk about the amazing effects yoga has had on me mentally, but not about how asana and Breathwork literally healed my physical body. I never thought l’d be talking about my womb in such detail on the internet, but here we go...

3 years ago, after having 2 babies back to back (one of those babies being almost as big as me) I was diagnosed with uterine prolapse - meaning my pelvic floor could no longer hold my uterus where it should be. With this alongside pelvic separation and Diastasis recti My body felt broken. My periods were unbearable. Months passed, but nothing improved.
I was put on the long waiting list for surgery. I was told “You can keep doing yoga, it might help a little, but only surgery will fix this.” I didn’t only keep practicing yoga, I started practicing every single day, morning and night, and started to notice my symptoms improving.

Almost a year later, I walked into my pre-op appointment, and came out with news I wasn’t expecting - my body had healed, my body was strong and I no longer needed surgery.
Through patience, yoga, and deep trust in my body’s wisdom, I avoided a surgery I thought was inevitable. We are far more powerful than we’re often told ❤️
