Next time you feel a food craving or urge coming on and you're not physically in need of food…

Don’t stop it.

Don’t fight it.

Just pause and ask:

“What do I actually need right now?”

Not what you should do.

What you need.

You might be surprised by the answer.

This is one of the simplest shifts but it changes everything.

One of the biggest moments that lead to me creating CRAVE… was realising:

“It’s not about the food at all”

It's about:

🍫 needing a break
🍫 avoiding a feeling
🍫 creating a moment of calm

And once that clicked… everything made more sense.

This is why willpower doesn’t work.

Because you’re trying to control the behaviour without understanding what it’s doing for you.

You don’t need more control.

You need clarity.

I threw open my inbox for questions this week and someone asked where food cravings come from.

I went live to talk about my take on the difference between a craving, a food urge and an overeat.

Because there is a difference and all three can have an impact but in slightly different ways.

Most people treat them the same... that they're behaviour to be judged, stamped out and forced with willpower.

But it can mean the bigger picture is lost as they are trying to ignore something that needs understanding if we want to get to the root cause to change it for good.

I didn’t realise how much people needed this… until the replies started coming in.

Every Wednesday I send what I call my Lift & Shift emails.

It usually starts with something real... a story, something human, something you’ll probably recognise in yourself too.

And then I offer a small lift and shift.
A breath
A question
A moment to pause
A different way of looking at something

I've been getting replies back which are always a delight to read... messages like:

“this came at exactly the right time”
or
“your emails help me shift something when I read them”

It's a reminder that often the smallest shifts are the ones we feel the most.

Those little moments of awareness and support you didn't realise you needed.
