Giving yourself permission to play in your yoga practice also means giving yourself permission to not take yourself so seriously. When we play, we explore, try new things, and venture out of our comfort zone. And sometimes, you’ll surprise yourself and find a new movement that you really love. Other times, you might fall down. You might crash. You might end up somewhere you weren’t planning on going. And that’s OK.

It is too easy to focus so much attention on having correct alignment and being serious in a yoga practice. But remember, a “yoga practice” is just that - a practice! Not a “yoga perfect”. So why not have some fun in your practice?

Why not acknowledge your fears and dive into them?
As kids, we didn’t have as many fears. We would throw ourselves into a tree house, jump off boulders, swing as high as possible. As adults, we have lots of life experiences that will sway us away from engaging in a playful activity out of fear. We will always carry these with us. So, ACKNOWLEDGE that you have fears, accept them, and then FACE them.

If you’re like most humans and spend the majority of your day walking around on feet… practicing arm balances and inversions can flip your perspective upside down and put you out of your comfort zone.

….and smile 😊

This my favorite cue - [insert yourself into a difficult, challenging pose], “now, pull the corners of your mouth up towards your eyes. SMILE!!” Even faking a smile can improve your outlook and mood.

“Life must be lived as play.” -Plato

It marks 8 years of my Yoga teacher graduation.
The journey is still ongoing, unfolding, it’s only very recently I’ve found my true space and the offerings that feel authentic to me.

Exploring our deeper understanding of the yoga practice has become an integral part of my journey.

Yesterday seemed the perfect way to further my own learning, plus tick off my bucket list a much awaited trip to listening to the history and roots of Hindu and Hara Krishna wisdom and practices. ✨🙏🏽

The beautiful temple stood inside a mesmerising space and shared with some beautiful souls.

I came home opened up The Bhagavad Gita and read through the first few pages again, but with fresh eyes.

“Perform your duty with a steady mind, O Arjuna, abandoning attachment to success or failure. Such equanimity is called yoga.”

The reasons I use and love Yoga Props ✨

Finding love for props in yoga involves shifting perspective from viewing them as crutches for beginners to embracing them as essential tools for deepening, supporting, and enhancing your practice. Props—such as blocks, straps, bolsters, and blankets—are designed to make yoga accessible to every body, bringing the floor closer, facilitating better alignment, and allowing for deeper relaxation in poses.

This is why I believe that using yoga props is a way to practice self love. Yoga props allow you to be in the body that you have and practice safely and effectively.

May you find a new kind of freedom that you may not have known existed… in yoga, with yoga props ❤️

Our new Yin class will offer a wonderful opportunity to lean into the use of props 🙏🏽
