It's such an honour to be asked to support the Trauma & Attachment in Practice Embodied Healing Conference, holding space for a guided movement session connecting to trust in the body.

How can we find safety within ourselves?

By rediscovering our natural attunement to the body, listening to its knowing, learning to feel into our yes, our no, our safety and our trust.

In this session we will move at the speed of trust, exploring trauma-informed movement, allowing the body to lead the way from where trust can grow.

I look forward to sharing this space with therapists, practitioners and anyone curious about how working with the body, learning to follow rather than force, can support healing and a new relationship of love and deep connection.

My teaching part was active today for the final day of our Level 5 Parts Work course, consolidating the learning of the past 5 months.

Hearing my students reflect on the many of their parts they've met along the way - parts that I also know so well - The perfectionist that must get it right and be beyond criticism, the inner critic always ready to remind of the high standards needed and no mercy policy.

The anxious part around learning and doing assignments, the parts that never feel we are good enough - we need to read more books, do more courses and the parts that need to know everything about everything, have all the answers and be the perfect therapist.

But I also heard something else, the parts that bring in softening, compassion, tolerance, space - it's okay to not know everything now, it's okay to be a beginner, I'm a work in process (love that auto correct corrected work in progress to queen in progress πŸ‘‘).

This week I was activated strongly, it's taken days to process and it's still moving in me.

I embrace the learning and the pain and all it brings but that doesn't make it easy.

It's a forever journey, tending to our wounds, our inner parts.

The pretty Instagram picture at the gym versus the reality of the jelly legs and tiredness after working out.

A bigger picture develops when I go within and look at the parts involved. Then a bit deeper still when I look at the more tender, mostly ignored parts.

The good girl. Must go to the gym to stay fit and healthy, keep looking good at the time.

The rule maker. You must go to the gym.

The pusher. Come on finish those weights don't slack off now. You must keep going.

The inner critic. You're getting fat and wasting money not going to the gym.

The organiser. Let's organise a regular schedule to go to the gym.

Tender tired part. I'm really tired, my legs feel shaky. Can we stop?

Tender tired worrier. How are we going to fit in going to the gym 3 x a week amongst everything else?

Tender scared part. We might pull a muscle or something as we're really tired.

The relaxed part. We could just go chill in the sauna?

The exhausted part. Stop now. I can't go on. I'm going to lie down now.

A tearful part reading this the next day. I'm so sorry I didn't listen to you tender parts better.

The inner critic. Yeah you never listen to them, the strong ones always win.

Kind, compassionate part. You're doing fine. You're so beautiful, kind and self aware. You're doing your best and I see you.

Cheerleader. Yeah. Look how brave you are sharing it all and how you did listen. You did finish the workout only a tiny bit early. You did do your new harder workout and you chilled in the sauna and breathed deeply and did a swim. And you wrote 2 essays and marked papers! You did great! I'm so proud of you.

Parts work is such a beautiful thing. It's been one of the most profound things to learn and it's such a pleasure to share it with the world.

Sometimes when I'm anxious I bite the skin around my nails.

I've done it since I was young. Sometimes "I" don't know I'm anxious but clearly there's a part of me that is.

The body finds ways to communicate when we cannot speak or find the words or understanding.

The body finds way to soothe or manage our distress. We learnt not to speak our pain somehow, better to hide it away.

Don't show weakness, nobody cares, I don't matter, don't make a fuss. I wonder what is your version?

But the body knows and the body shows.

And I'm grateful for the part that tries to soothe and let's me know actually I don't feel okay.

Other parts have tried to hide that I have any needs at all but this one, she has needs. I tell her I see you, it's okay, I love you, I'm sorry you don't feel safe, I'm here for you. And thank you.

There's a part of me that loves learning, that thirsts for knowing, loves knowledge and wisdom. This part has spent so much of my life reading, studying, searching, exploring, listening, watching, asking and sharing.

And today I've gone back to college to learn more about myself and others and how I can serve and support people better and consolidate what I already have.

As always what's mine to know is mine to share.

I've been enjoying and being busy with marking the last few weeks - Parts Work and Breathwork - so now that's finished it's time to get back to the podcast!!!

The Parts of Us is my new podcast so that I can share parts work with the world, in a way thats free, inspiring, useful in your life and accessible.

You might not have have come across the idea before but perhaps you've heard yourself or others say "there's a part of me that want to do this or that" inevitably followed part that wants or does the complete opposite!

Parts work helps to you work with these differing energies within - there's many traditions and versions of working in this way - Shadow Work, Voice Dialogue, Internal Family Systems and more.

I'll be talking about them all and I'd love to help you to meet some of your inner parts too on the show and in my upcoming community.
