This check is different from other health checks or appointments you may already have.

Your GP should invite you. If they haven’t, you can contact your GP and ask for the check.

⚠️ Important Health Notice – Meningitis B ⚠️

We’ve received updated guidance regarding meningitis B and current precautions:

The meningitis B vaccine has been part of routine childhood vaccinations since 1st September 2015. Anyone born before this date will not have received it as part of their standard schedule. There are currently no changes to the vaccine programme, but eligible individuals will be contacted if updates occur.

💊 Preventative antibiotics are currently being offered to:

• Students at Canterbury campus

• Staff living in affected halls of residence

• Anyone who attended Club Chemistry on 5th, 6th, or 7th March

• Close contacts of any of the above groups

📞 If you believe you are a close contact and have not yet been treated, please contact UKHSA immediately.
If you have further questions call the UKHSA (UK Health Security Agency) on 03442252861 and select option 5 (option dedicated to meningitis queries).

🚨 Be alert to symptoms of meningococcal disease and septicaemia, including:

Fever, headache, rash, vomiting, limb pain, cold hands/feet, drowsiness, or rapid deterioration.

If symptoms develop, call 999 or attend A&E immediately.

We are unable to provide vaccination for meningitis B at this time to those not due this as part of their immunisation schedule.
