It's been a while since I had time to sit down and make anything but I have managed it! I have been asked to make a pendant so I thought I should do some practice stone setting first just to get back in the swing of things. This is a gorgeous intarsia cabochon made by . I have had it a while and thought it would make a nice bangle so I am pleased I finally found the time!

My first attempt at Mitsuro Hikime. It's a Japanese wax technique that involves pulling and folding the wax into itself over and over, much like stretching candy, until it forms unique striations and then it can be molded and cast. It's alot of fun but quite difficult to get right. The first ring is a chunky gents ring and the second a lovely knot ring, this one shows the texture much better. They are very natural and organic, I rather like it. More to come!

A new bracelet just finished and sent off to London for hallmarking. Can't wait to get it back. 100% recycled sterling silver, reticulated and oxidised.

Do you remember the scrap silver that was melted down to be recycled a couple of months ago? I had only used half and today rolled out the other half and hammered it in to a gorgeous chunky cuff bracelet.

I haven't been in the workshop much since the start of the year, it's just too cold out there! But, with the longer days and (slightly) warmer weather comes tinkering and I have enjoyed it so much ☺️. I have lots of bits on my list that I would like to make so I had better get cracking 😂

I hope that you all had a lovely festive break and wish you all a Happy New Year. I managed a couple of weeks off and am now slowly getting back to it. These are a couple of bits I finished just before Christmas. The silver bangle is made from recycled silver, smelted and and formed into wire, the statement pendant was a Christmas commission and the ring made by the lost wax method (my current favourite!)

And finally... Set the stone and polish, polish, polish! Ok, truth be told setting the stone was the hardest part and I needed alot of help and advice from but with time and practice I will get better at it. Turns out that marquis cut is probably not the easiest to start with! I also learnt that prep is key to the final polish, sand and sand again until everything looks super smooth before your final polish for that gorgeous mirror like finish.
