And just like that in the blink of an eye….. 🌅
Yesterday saw us celebrate a year to the day since our little grafters played their first ever friendly match (pic in black), tonight saw us play our last game as an Under 6 side playing a “year up” in the RFYL at Under 7 and we sealed it with such a mature performance and win against older, bigger, more physically imposing boys.
⛄️ Since we joined the league in the Winter Cup, when each of the teams lined up, you may of thought our boyos don’t look as tall or as big as their opponents, but there is not one side they’ve played where they’ve backed down or not given as good as they have got and more often than not have been the side coming out on top, not just in the battles, but in the quality football they play. Honestly it’s been a joy to watch and tonight’s win, the way they moved the ball, went toe to toe in battles, movement on and off the ball just summed up how much they have developed this last 12 months 💥
A promotion from the last league they played in and a division higher in the Spring Cup that finished tonight, we have only been beaten once in a single game and whilst we haven’t seen any league tables, we believe we finished second. The team that won the league were a team that suffered their single and only defeat to us a couple of weeks back after a superb performance from our lads, an achievement in itself! 🔥 🥅 If we weren’t coming back to play in our own age group we would have had back to back promotions!
Our lads love playing together and they’re learning all the time. We can’t wait to see them in their own age group and we’ll continue to play friendlies and tournaments where possible against older opposition to keep them on their toes! 🙌
For now, we’ll say a huge thank you to the boys for their hard work, to the parents and families for supporting them and of course our sponsors DH Car Sales, Chloe & Liam Together Forever Trust and Pathway Soccer for their continued support!
A huge thank you to Scott, Dave and Gregg who keep things organised and keep pushing the boys to be the best versions of themselves on and off the field.
Finally a thank you to Trev and Herrington FC for bringing this fanstaic set of youngsters together over a year ago - we hope we’ve done you proud as your under 6 development team and we can’t wait to start our journey tomorrow as formal Under 7s! Up the Herra! 💚♥️
